Having secured further funding, we are seeking to further grow our tech team with passionate and self-motivated individuals who have experience working within or leading commercially-driven teams.

As a successful applicant you will have the opportunity to work alongside world-leading experts to define and develop a new cutting-edge clinical product which will impact on patient care both within the NHS as well as globally. As the technical owner of this product, you will, (with the support of a project manager), need to define a robust architecture and tech stack, while understanding deeply the needs and requirements of the end users in the clinic. You will need to carefully identify product milestones and engineering resources required to achieve them. Once resources are committed to your milestones, you will oversee progress, delivery and product releases.

Responsibilities

  • Ability to work from a clean slate on a new clinical product with domestic & global impact to improve patient outcomes.
  • Define and communicate a robust architecture and tech stack.
  • Ownership of all technical decisions relating to the product.
  • Close working relationship with regulatory, science and clinical experts.
  • Definition, risk assessment and prioritization of all tehnical work in the product.
  • Product software development including analysis, architecture and design, development, testing and all associated documentation
  • Caring that the code quality of the software system implementation is aligned with Motilent coding standards and practices
  • Research, investigation and prototyping of new technologies
  • Collaborating with other team members including regular communication of progress of tasks
  • Eager and self-motivated to learn and assist others in improving how we develop software
  • Support and maintenance activities for software issues
  • Pursue learning and self-development and sharing of knowledge with others

Prior experience: >5 years as a (senior) engineer within a commercial enterprise with evidence of keen problem-solving skills and able to use initiative to solve technical challenges

Academic background: degree in a numerate discipline with a sound mathematical base. (or equivalent courses)

Coding skills: Expert working knowledge of at least {C#, Java or C++} working knowledge of at least 1 other higher level language {e.g. python, typescript, javascript}

Areas of commercial expertise (at least 2 of): web services, image processing algorithms, DICOM, medical imaging, cloud computing, web based UI frameworks, UI design patterns and architecture for highly interactive applications, performance code

Project management: Ideally worked under a formal quality system, able to take user needs and drill down into detailed, risk-assessed, technical specifications, verification and validation activities. Assemble work into coherent milestones. Proven ability to work to deadlines individually and as part of a team

Leadership experience: Ideally led or managed software engineers on commercial projects.
