Your new role
The IT Department are looking for a Project Manager to deliver several high profile, exciting projects within the Academic and Commercial arenas. You would manage the project delivery from initial scoping, through tender, implementation and into a BAU environment.

Main projects you would be working on are a Windows 10 upgrade, a cms system implementation and an HR and payroll project.

What you'll need to succeed
You will have the following skills and experience:

  1. Recent Project Management experience preferably in an educational or NFP organisation
  2. Full project life cycle experience from project initiation to completion including project discovery, process and requirements gathering, implementation, testing, training and transition into BAU.
  3. Experience of delivering projects within budget to agreed deadlines
  4. Experience of documenting processes and requirements, facilitating workshops and holding meetings with key stakeholders to identify business needs and obtaining sign-off.
  5. Experience of ITT process including producing documentation and scoring applications
  6. Excellent stakeholder management, with the ability to engage at all levels
  7. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate with a wide variety of individuals.
  8. Excellent documentation skills including production of robust requirements documentation, process maps, business cases and tender documents.
  9. Strong problem solving capability with a logical approach
  10. PRINCE2/ PMP and ITIL qualifications desirable

IT Systems Architect job, based in Bristol, £50,000 - £64,500 p.a

You will have the opportunity to work on one of a variety of our programmes and projects, helping us to design, develop, integrate, manage and support complex systems and combat sub-systems for in-service and future submarines. This may include the development and support of our land-based integration, test and reference facilities.
You will ensure that our technical IT solutions are clearly defined, integrated, configured, controlled, delivered and accepted and will have an understanding of how IT systems are employed and operated in a submarine, maritime, military or high-controlled environment. With your subject matter expertise in IT architecture and the computing domain, you will understand relevant maritime legislation, industry & defence standards, and be able to articulate the effect of system parameters, standards and design on operational and technical performance.
You will have knowledge of the IT marketplace, including products and suppliers and the direction of potential future technologies, in order to able to support business planning and decision-making for new design activities and the implementation of change.

Your main responsibilities as an IT Systems Architect will involve:

  • Understanding and interpreting the User Needs and Concept of Operations (CONOPS) for the combat system or products and be able to derive the technical and functional requirements.
  • Applying your specialist knowledge and subject matter expertise to develop the functional design of IT systems and being able to define the systems architecture, components, interfaces and data to enable the development and production of the component sub systems.
  • Understanding and being able to articulate the impact of the IT system design on other areas of the submarine combat system and platform. This may include working with suppliers and the military users of our equipment.
  • Providing technical guidance and to other engineers and support project and engineer management teams in planning and controlling your specialist activities. Support the development of proposals and estimates for future work.



Your skills and qualifications:

Essential:

  • Degree level qualification (or equivalent experience) in relevant IT or STEM subject (Computing Engineering/ Maths/ Science).
  • Knowledge of the system engineering lifecycle and be able to apply good systems engineering and IT practices to your work.
  • Understanding of relevant engineering standards, including safety and environmental regulations

Desirable:

  • Experience of working in a customer-facing and/or supplier engagement role.
  • Member of appropriate professional institution; Chartered Engineer or working towards Chartership.
