Solution Architect - NHS SBS Leeds
Job Type - Permanent, Full Time
Package - £80,000 + 3% flex fund, pension, life assurance, annual leave (25 days + bank holidays)
Working Hours - 9am - 5pm Monday to Friday

Role Overview
Solution Architects shape and define solution architectures that underpin the services NHS SBS delivers to its customers. These architectures are used to define project plans, manage detailed design, inform technical risk analysis and support estimation.
We work with a client from the earliest stages of a project (potentially in a presales capacity) through to delivery and 'go live’. We provide technical leadership and support to the Programme Director or Engagement manager.

As a member of our Solution Innovation and Design team, you will bring a mix of technical skills, industry insight, business acumen and leadership. You will forge close working relationships not only with our architecture and engineering teams in UK and India, but also with the many other senior leaders across our core lines of business. You will take a leading role in both the delivery of key internal projects and in business development activity where you will work directly with client organisations to shape and design innovative, custom solutions.

About Us
Established by the department of Health and Social Care in a unique Partnership with digital experts Sopra Steria, we deliver modern corporate services to the NHS with the main objective to save money and time, as well as continuing to provide world class patient care.

Key Aspects of the role will include:

  • Work on bleeding edge cloud-native architectures.
  • Take end-to-end ownership of shaping solutions & defining the right architectural approach.
  • Support estimation, planning and delivery as a Technical Leader.
  • Collaborate closely with our engineering teams to ensure our solutions are built to reflect your solution vision and make the best use of current development practices.
  • Maintain technical relationships with our clients and technology partners.
  • Be a trusted technology adviser to our clients as well as to NHS SBS colleagues.

Essential Skills:

  • Excellent knowledge of exploiting Microsoft Azure for delivery of cloud-native solutions.
  • A self-motivated desire to continually learn and improve.
  • A strong background in Microsoft technology; experience of building scalable, resilient and secure applications using Microsoft SharePoint, Dynamics 365 and Microsoft .NET.
  • Exposure to and some experience of working with structured architecture approaches (e.g. TOGAF).
  • Experience of working in collaborative teams.
  • Experience of Agile / Scrum methodology.

Working knowledge of relevant technologies and software architecture patterns such as:

  • SharePoint Online
  • Microsoft Dynamics 365
  • Azure Platform as a Service
  • Office 365 solutions
  • Containerisation technologies: Docker or Kubernetes

Desirable Skills:

  • Microsoft Azure solution architect certification.
  • Working with distributed, off-shore delivery teams.
  • DevOps background/experience.

Reasons why you should join us:

  • We’re big, really big. With that comes career growth opportunities - we offer excellent training, you’ll join a company where development and progression is actively encouraged and not just something we talk about
  • We have an enviable client list - we work with some of the biggest names out there
  • We ensure our working environment is supportive and collaborative, everyone has a voice and all opinions count
  • Our goal is to disrupt the market, not just follow the status quo
