Job Title – Model Validation Wholesale (IVU) - AVP
Location – London

Model Risk Management (MRM) is a new function reporting directly to the Group Chief Risk Officer and responsible for the identification, assessment, monitoring and management of model risk within Barclays. IVU is an independent arm of MRM with accountability to senior management and Board of the firm for the review and challenge of all models and assumptions driven non-model methods (NMM) to ensure accuracy and regulatory compliance of the model risk measurement and management, in support of Barclays customer and commercial agenda. 


Independent Valuation Unit (IVU) is structured in 4 teams (2 US, 2 UK based) covering all models in Barclays. This role sits in the London Wholesale, Finance/Treasury and Stress testing IVU team and covers mainly IRA and other wholesale models used in MTP, IST, ICAAP and BoE stress testing frameworks.
You will be responsible for being lead validator for a wide range of models used in MTP, IST, ICAAP and BoE stress testing frameworks. 


These models/frameworks are crucially important for daily business management of the Barclays Group and its legal entities as well as to meet important regulatory requirements with respect to independent validation of these frameworks.

What will you be doing?

• Perform technical analysis, data analysis, benchmarking, build challenger models (if needed) to support the validation review and challenge process 
• Role holder must be able to challenge others and be open to challenge
• Role holder should seek direction on which issues are material but have own views on this also.
• Produce high quality model validation reports, with a particular focus on noting limitations, weaknesses and assumptions
• Self-study of developments in modelling and validation techniques
• Contribution to internal and external technical presentations to enhance the team development.
• Contribute to ensuring that the MRM team provides high quality input and guidance to modellers across the bank to achieve consistency of standards and compliance with internal and external requirements;
• Support team lead in key interface with owners of models 

What we’re looking for:

• Highly numerate, as demonstrated by Honours degree, Masters or PhD (or similar) in a quantitative subject such as Mathematics, Physics, Operational Research, Economics, or Finance
• Significant experience of coding in R/SQL/C++/Python or equivalent language, including handling large datasets and writing functions.
• Understanding and experience in the implementation of regulators’ requirements on model risk management are also a must have

Skills that will help you in the role:

• Good communication and influencing skills, ability to produce high quality written communication for technical and non-technical audiences.
• Relevant experience in either model development or in model validation
• Expertise in validation and risk management of models
• Highly organised in terms of documentation and follow through.

Market Risk Technology is a cross-asset group recently created within the Investment Bank, comprised of over 2,000 people in 15 countries. Our objective is to consolidate, streamline and simplify the generation, analysis and visualisation of Risk within the Investment Bank onto strategic, cross-asset platforms. The migration from a legacy, siloed, asset class specific environment to a shared, cross-asset, platform is a complex one and we’re running that work as a programme. 


As a Senior Developer, you’ll be capturing the requirements and design, build & deliver risk and stress reporting systems focusing on C#.


What will you be doing?


Writing code to specification for one or more applications / products during the build phase of the software development lifecycle focusing on C#
Testing the code thoroughly and liaise with business users to ensure delivery is fit for purpose
Working directly with stakeholders and technology teams to understand requirements both near-term and strategic
Validating the technical design meets the business requirements
In partnership with the component, functional and asset class teams across Market Risk design, build and deliver in line with the Market Risk strategic roadmap)
Contribute to the testing of the deliveries with the stakeholders to ensure they meet the needs of the end users
Make a key contribution to the front-to-back on-boarding and delivery of data and reporting requirements


What we’re looking for:


Experience as a hands on C# Developer with the ability to write and test code
Experience of mentoring or managing others 
SQL experience 
Knowledge of using Excel

Overall purpose of role

Overall purpose of role

The Head of Non-Permanent Hiring will report to the Head of Professional Talent Acquisition.  The role holder will be an integral part of the leadership team, and a key influencer across Talent Acquisition and Group HR. 
The Head of Non-Permanent Hiring is responsible for:
• Defining and implementing the Barclays global non-permanent hiring and worker after care strategy to include all non- permanent agency worker hiring across Barclays globally (this excludes types of work managed by procurement)
• Working with the Head of Professional TA, Head of Performance, relevant coverage teams, PSG and the RPO’s to build and deliver an agile short, medium and long term market leading strategy which is reflective of the changing gig-economy and business needs.  
• Ensuring effective implementation of the Non-Perm Professional strategy and delivery of TAs objectives including increased candidate and hiring manager experience, effective controls, simplification and efficiencies through ongoing automation.
• Ensuring all developments are delivered in line with policy and budget constraints with effective engagement, communications and connected function wide strategies including business vision, workforce optimisation plan and overall people agenda.  
• Consistently developing and maintaining an efficient and clearly defined proposition, which delivers non-perm hiring and worker aftercare globally for the business, colleagues and candidates. Given the fluctuation of non-perm hiring demand; is able to scale the offering in accordance with business needs. (book size circa 500 -3,000 p.a.)
• Managing relationship with internal and external stakeholders and interested parties, including but not limited to; TA/HR Coverage and management, Agency and 3rd party relationships, relevant government and regulatory authorities, procurement, VMS system owners, HR Technology, ER and Legal.
• Leading by example, promoting a candidate led, control focused, innovative and always improving culture. Ensuring worker aftercare is managed in accordance with legal and regulatory requirements, working closely with the RPO and Barclays legal teams.
• Be responsible for sharing external insight across the teams to feed into future hiring strategies, represent and promote Barclays at external events and drive Barclays to be respected as a leading company in the evolution of Hiring practices to deliver the future of work
• By the very nature of the role, successful candidates will have a significant impact on Barclays and TA approach to the gig economy and agency worker management 


Key Accountabilities
• Strategy and Business Plan: Lead the implementation of the Non-Perm Proposition strategy to deliver against the legal entity business plans and deliver outcomes against the TA vision, in line with Barclays purpose
• Leadership & Execution: Lead, manage and organise the Non-Perm professional proposition teams to execute the strategy and business plans in line with approved risk appetite and values. Deliver through wider technology and legal teams who are not directly managed by TA
• Governance: Ensure that activity being conducted is supported by operational infrastructure and that the appropriate systems and controls are in place in conjunction with PSG. This should include a clear organisation structure, formal system of delegations of authority and responsibility and run the bank BAU support.
• People & Organisation: Lead, manage and develop their direct reports including through performance management and remuneration.
• Service Management: Accountable for solution design, build and implementation of any people, technology and proposition led elements of the Professional Talent Acquisition sub-service for Non- Perm Hiring.
• Initiatives:  Through strong networking and interpretation of data, drive an innovative and creative culture which develops solutions and builds initiatives which deliver an enhanced candidate, employee and business experience. Aligning to group strategy and increasing talent competiveness of Barclays in the market.
• Commercials:  Accountability for Non-Perm team associated costs, budgets, and policies. As a TA SME oversee contract negotiation and demonstrate a strong understanding of commercial value in line with TA and business line costs. Work with the Head of Performance and PSG colleagues to ensure the above is delivered in line with Professional Non-Perm service offerings
