Job Title Senior Developer 
Location Glasgow 


Market Risk Technology is a cross-asset group recently created within the Investment Bank, comprised of over 2,000 people in 15 countries. Our objective is to consolidate, streamline and simplify the generation, analysis and visualisation of Risk within the Investment Bank onto strategic, cross-asset platforms. The migration from a legacy, siloed, asset class specific environment to a shared, cross-asset, platform is a complex one and we’re running that work as a programme. 


As a Senior Developer, you’ll be capturing the requirements and design, build & deliver risk and stress reporting systems focusing on C#.


What will you be doing?


Writing code to specification for one or more applications / products during the build phase of the software development lifecycle focusing on C#
Testing the code thoroughly and liaise with business users to ensure delivery is fit for purpose
Working directly with stakeholders and technology teams to understand requirements both near-term and strategic
Validating the technical design meets the business requirements
In partnership with the component, functional and asset class teams across Market Risk design, build and deliver in line with the Market Risk strategic roadmap)
Contribute to the testing of the deliveries with the stakeholders to ensure they meet the needs of the end users
Make a key contribution to the front-to-back on-boarding and delivery of data and reporting requirements


What we’re looking for:


Experience as a hands on C# Developer with the ability to write and test code
SQL experience 
Knowledge of using Excel

Senior Application Developer

A brand new opportunity has become available for a Senior Application Developer within our Operational Risk Technology Function. This dedicated function is primarily responsible for the end-to-end technology delivery of the risk management systems such as ORAC, RSAM and Sentinel applications. We are currently planning to build a new Risk management system to be used by approx. 10,000 users across all Barclays’ business areas. As part of this function, you will play a key role in the build during 2020 and 2021 and will be a big enabler for the Operational Risk business teams.


What will you be doing?


• Comprehend the functional requirements and build the ORAC replacement in accordance with business needs, by designing a scalable and maintainable solution
• Deliver projects in a fast-paced environment and work with different analytic and technology groups to produce high quality solutions in a timely manner
• Co-ordinate defined projects, their interdependencies, and associated risks and issues to deliver to agreed milestones
• Design and build ORAC replacement, drive full project life cycle until delivery and provide Level 3 production support thereafter
• Participate in the release management, by ensuring that the application platform is fit for purpose and scalable to meet future demand
• Understand and make decisions based on the operational impact of changes and react quickly to live reporting issues in co-operation with Support and Application Development teams


What we’re looking for:


• A solid background in component and object oriented programming/design in Java/JEE, Multi-Threading, Message-oriented-middleware, XML, Web presentation technologies
• Experience with RESTful web services and JavaScript application frameworks such as Angular and ReactJS
• Experience with Java VM architecture and extensive knowledge of system optimization /performance tuning
• Hands-on experience with Dev Tools such as Eclipse / STS / RAD and DevOps Tools such as, JIRA, GIT or Bit Bucket, Jenkins, Nexus, Chef and Docker
• Hands-on experience or exposure to building and hosting applications on Amazon Web Services (AWS)
• Report development experience using PL/SQL, Microsoft Power BI or Jasper reports
• Extensive hands-on experience with Dev Tools such as Eclipse / STS / RAD, JIRA, Bit Bucket, Jenkins

Job Title Data Analyst

This role sits in the Risk, Finance and Treasury (RFT) team. The RFT Data Fabric consists of 2 primary ecosystems, one that is more focused towards Investment Banking and Markets data and the second for data relating to BUK or group consolidated data. The Data Fabric Architecture team is responsible for the governance and evolution of the data architecture across both of these platforms ensuring that data is consumed from the right sources in the right way, including data sourcing having agreed and enforced SLAs; measurement of the quality of our data; and proactive identification and mitigation of threats to our change plans for the future.

What will you be doing?


• Work with upstream and downstream Data publishers and consumers to navigate the data onboarding process and participate in the implementation of the wider data governance Framework.
• Coordinate with CDO (Chief Data Office) to track lineage and critical data elements through the data fabric
• Document data quality rules through the data flows, highlight data quality gaps and track data quality issues with the CDO teams.
• Gather requirements for client requests in relation to the RFT Data Fabric and work with development teams and Project Managers to deliver new features.
• Document Data Lineage for data types within the Fabric and create a logical data model for the fabric
• Maintenance of the Data Fabric SharePoint & Confluence including feature evolution and data flows
• Maintaining and documenting the Data Fabric (the project name) roadmap and interlocks

• Good analytical skills

The post-holder will be a software developer with key responsibilities for the University’s data exchange architecture and the curation of all our data.

Duties of the Role

The post sits in the Enterprise Data team within Innovation and Technology Solutions (ITS).

The post holder will be responsible for developing, maintaining and upgrading the technical solutions that guarantee the timely, robust and accurate exchange of data between the corporate systems in use at the University. This includes both commercial and in-house developed applications. The majority of these data exchanges occur in MS SQL, but there are a growing number of WebAPI interfaces and a desire to move towards an Enterprise Service Bus architecture, which this role will have a responsibility for shaping.

You will have a strong understanding of the importance of data quality and an ability to liaise with data owners to understand data and correct data quality issues. You will ensure that the data held within our systems complies with the University’s information management policies and is GDPR compliant. You will also be proficient in documenting data flows to a high standard, and serve as a nexus of experience for others in the section.

The post is based at the Colchester campus. Travel to the Loughton or Southend campuses may be required.

Skills and qualifications required

The post is on the University’s grade 8 but appointment at grade 7 will be considered with support to development to grade 8.

The successful candidate will hold an honours degree or equivalent level qualification/ experience. You will have proven programming experience in a modern development environment and experience of business process analysis and integration system design. You will have knowledge and experience of SQL query programming and of working in the .NET framework (preferably .Net core) using C#. With all round ICT skills, a self-motivated practical approach to problem solving and integration systems development, you will have excellent communication skills enabling you to communicate effectively to a wide audience of differing levels of technical understanding.

Innovation and Technology Solutions, a section of over 100 staff, is organised in six main operational service groups – Infrastructure, Commercial Applications, Software Development, Technology for People and Place, Governance, Architecture and Assurance, and Strategic Projects. The post-holder will be a software developer with key responsibilities for the University’s data exchange architecture and the curation of all our data.

Duties of the Role

The post sits in the Enterprise Data team within Innovation and Technology Solutions (ITS).

The post holder will be responsible for developing, maintaining and upgrading the technical solutions that guarantee the timely, robust and accurate exchange of data between the corporate systems in use at the University. This includes both commercial and in-house developed applications. The majority of these data exchanges occur in MS SQL, but there are a growing number of WebAPI interfaces and a desire to move towards an Enterprise Service Bus architecture, which this role will have a responsibility for shaping.

You will have a strong understanding of the importance of data quality and an ability to liaise with data owners to understand data and correct data quality issues. You will ensure that the data held within our systems complies with the University’s information management policies and is GDPR compliant. You will also be proficient in documenting data flows to a high standard, and serve as a nexus of experience for others in the section.

The post is based at the Colchester campus. Travel to the Loughton or Southend campuses may be required.

Skills and qualifications required

The post is on the University’s grade 8 but appointment at grade 7 will be considered with support to development to grade 8.

The successful candidate will hold an honours degree or equivalent level qualification/ experience. You will have proven programming experience in a modern development environment and experience of business process analysis and integration system design. You will have knowledge and experience of SQL query programming and of working in the .NET framework (preferably .Net core) using C#. With all round ICT skills, a self-motivated practical approach to problem solving and integration systems development, you will have excellent communication skills enabling you to communicate effectively to a wide audience of differing levels of technical understanding.
