The role: BI Developer DBA 

The successful BI Developer/ DBA will be joining my clients IT team in Slough, working centrally to design, develop and maintain scalable data warehousing and BI solutions, using the latest Microsoft Technologies – SQL server 2016.

 The BI Developer DBA responsibilities:

  • The BI Developer DBA will design and develop data warehouses & ETL solutions, using Microsoft SQL 2016 and other technologies
  • Provide technical consultation and data solutions based on business needs
  • The BI Developer DBA will design and develop MS SQL Server database objects
  • Maintaining their Data Warehouse 
  • Providing database administration for their SQL estates 

Technical skills required for the BI Developer DBA role:

  • Expertise in the full Microsoft BI Tool-stack
  • Experience working with cloud based data warehouse solution (MS Azure)
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience with MS SQL Server 2016, including SSIS, SSRS and SSAS
  • Hands-on experience delivering data warehouse solutions using agile methodologies
  • Ability to provide high availability, performance tuning and troubleshooting across SQL Server 2016
  • Previous experience working at DBA

The Role:
  • You will form part of the tier 3 team as the highest point of escalation dealing with complex support issues for external clients.

  • You will work to SLAs to resolve escalated tickets which will massively vary and focus around the core Microsoft Stack from hardware to software (Windows Server, Exchange, SQL, Anti Virus, Azure and Private Cloud, Office 365)

Skills and Experience Required:
  • You must hold at least 5yrs experience working within an Infrastructure focused role and ideally have some experience working for a Managed Service Provider / IT Consultancy – or with external clients.
  • You must hold a wide and varying technical skill set across the full Microsoft Stack –inc various versions of Windows Server, Exchange, Microsoft Cloud Technologies (Azure and O365), SQL, Anti-Virus software, Back up technologies, Virtualisation etc.
  • You must have excellent customer service skills and be experienced at speaking with various external businesses
  • You should have a can do attitude and not be afraid to take on any new challenge
