Junior C/C++ Embedded Software Engineer

Your role:

This role is for a dynamic and driven embedded payment terminal developer to bring their knowledge and experience to help us enhance and expand our products.

You will be responsible for:

• Collaborating with your team to prepare designs, estimates and functional specifications
• Design, build and maintain efficient, reusable, robust and reliable code
• Maintain accurate and quality documentation
• Deliver high quality functional software within agreed timescales
• Help maintain code quality, structure, and automation where possible
• Investigating, troubleshooting and resolving issues
• Take ownership of your own tasks, delivering within the agreed timeline, escalating where necessary

To be considered for this role, you'll need:

• Work collaboratively with your team members and peers to ensure that we are working together.
• Continually work towards the company and departmental objectives, contributing to overall company initiatives and product roadmap
• Awareness and understanding of the software development life cycle
• Able to work closely and collaboratively with the QA Team and Product Owners

You must have:

• Strong analytical skills and a logical approach to problem-solving
• Strong C/C++ capabilities
• Use of source control technologies, such as GIT
• An Interest in programming best practices
• Strong knowledge of embedded software development
• Strong knowledge of EMV payments structures and processes

Desirable skills:

• Previous terminal application development experience
• Java experience within embedded software development environment

The Role

Having recently become part of a larger group of companies, this C++ Software Engineer position has been newly-created, as they invest, and hire further Developers, to work across a variety of new and exciting projects. 

Working directly with the original founders of the company, the C++ Software Engineer will be designing, developing, testing and deploying new software aligned to the product roadmap, whilst assisting with the configuration, maintenance and upgrades of the core systems.

What’s Required?

• Extensive development in C++ and Python and ideally, some C
• Strong proficiency in MySQL database design
• Excellent knowledge of Linux – preferably CentOS
• Any experience in VoIP telephony and real-time audio streaming and processing would be hugely advantageous
