We are currently recruiting for a Lead Developer (Ecommerce & Digital) to join our Ecommerce team based in Letchworth Garden City. This is a full time, permanent position offering a competitive salary plus attractive rewards and benefits.

Autoglym’s growth through our domestic and International Ecommerce channels is a core strategic initiative for the business. Having formed the team in 2018 as a result of the changing market place and the way customers and consumers shop, the focus of the team is to grow Autoglym through our own ecommerce platforms, customer ecommerce channels and online marketplaces worldwide.

As a Lead Developer your main responsibilities will include:

  • Build and document the Autoglym Ecommerce platforms and digital tools to a sustainable, secure and high standard within agreed timelines.
  • Understand and interpret business processes/needs and translate into tangible, realistic, and achievable technical specifications for delivery across the team.
  • Translate business needs to detailed scopes of work for e-Commerce and digital developers
  • Become the gatekeeper for the technical development roadmap, aligning with business needs and strategy.
  • Become the technical expert in all Autoglym D2C and B2B Ecommerce platforms and digital tools.
  • Become the expert in the Magento product roadmap and lifecycle. 
  • Set and maintain standards for use of development/project management tools.
  • Continual emersion in the digital space, advising Head of Ecommerce, Marketing Director, and Digital Systems Manager of new technologies and business cases.
  • Evaluate all activities to make recommendations for future improvements to the e-Commerce strategy.
  • Ensure all digital development is consistent with Altro Group IT, Development, and Security policies.
  • A minimum of 70% of time will be allocated to coding.

What are we looking for?

  • Experience managing complex Magento 1x/2x implementations whilst adhering to best practices.
  • Strong PHP, HTML/CSS, UI/UX, Javascript/AJAX background
  • Passion, understanding, and experience of implementing best practice within the full cycle of development.
  • Exposure to, and experience of managing wrapped app technologies. 
  • Management of Project Management and Workflow tools, e.g. Attlasian JIRA and Confluence.
  • Experience using version control systems (e.g. Git).
  • Strong demonstrable understanding of LAMP Stack and other technologies including, SOAP, REST, API Development.
  • Has defined and delivered end-to-end solutions, and can demonstrate understanding of complex business processes, including complex integrations with other business systems.
  • Proven experience line managing, coaching, and developing junior developers and testers.
  • Experience as an Agile Scrum Master, with demonstrable working knowledge of ‘Scrum’ and ‘Kanban’ project management principles.
  • Managed team workflow, productivity, and versioning using industry standard tools.
  • Exposure to SQL Server Integration Services. 
  • Experience with other PHP-based CMS such as Wordpress.
