The DDV team consists of C.100 consultants, of which C.20 specialise in financial services. About the role

DDV helps clients with the operational and transformational challenges arising from M&A activity, advising on transactions ranging from £50 million to over £5 billion. You will be working with businesses from a wide range of financial services sectors by providing pre and post-M&A support. Areas of work include:

  • Helping clients to assess the operating environment of target businesses via operational due diligence;
  • Helping clients to articulate the quality and performance of their operating environment to potential buyers;
  • Analysis of costs, including cost synergies that may arise from the merger of two businesses;
  • Assisting clients with planning and delivery of separation of divested businesses; and
  • Working to plan and execute post-merger integration projects.

As a Senior Associate, you’ll work as part of a team of problem solvers with extensive consulting and industry experience, helping our clients solve their complex business issues from strategy to execution.

You will be challenged to take on significant responsibility from the outset, including meeting with senior executives on high-profile engagements, and producing high-quality written reports articulating our findings to senior stakeholders. You will need to work to tight deadlines to understand and report on the operations-related opportunities, issues, costs and risks impacting the value of target businesses. Working within a dedicated project team, you will receive help, support and guidance from a senior member of the team.

Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Proactively assist in the management of several clients, while reporting to Managers and above
  • Train and lead staff
  • Establish effective working relationships directly with clients
  • Contribute to the development of your own and team's technical acumen
  • Keep up to date with local and national business and economic issues
  • Be actively involved in business development activities to help identify and research opportunities on new/existing clients
  • Continue to develop internal relationships and your PwC brand
  • Whilst primarily London based, the global nature of our work means candidates must be prepared to travel widely when required.

Essential skills and experience:

  • Experience of leading project delivery teams or workstreams
  • Excellent communication skills, particularly the ability to produce high-quality written reports
  • Comfort around financial analysis and understanding of the key drivers of financial information
  • The ability to quickly understand large amounts of information and draw out hypotheses and key messages
  • Comfort around IT and operational analysis to understand business processes, their associated costs and potential issues as well as opportunities for improvement

Delivering Deal Value (DDV) is a market leading team that assists Corporate and Private Equity (PE) clients in a wide range of high impact business situations. The majority of our work is in the Mergers and Acquisitions (M&A) space, with a focus on the operations and IT challenges both pre and post deal. We help clients achieve maximum value on their deal transactions by solving transformational and complex challenges. The M&A Deals we work on range in size from £50m to over £5bn and our clients include the most well-known brands and businesses in the world.

The Financial Services sector team within DDV provides M&A advice and support to insurers, banks, asset managers, payments providers, fintech firms, hedge funds and other financial services players. We are looking for excellent candidates to join the current team of 25 dynamic and friendly people who have a wide range of backgrounds and disciplines.

Your responsibilities

The Manager role is a leadership role at project level. As such, you will be expected to take on a leading role on engagements and management of project team members within 6-12 months and contribute to business development efforts where possible alongside your project responsibilities.

Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Proactively assist in the management of a portfolio of clients
  • Develop strategies to solve complex technical challenges
  • Assist in the management and delivering of large projects
  • Train, coach, and supervise junior staff
  • Oversee the financial management of client projects
  • Be actively involved in business development activities to help identify and win opportunities to work with new/existing clients
  • Contribute to the development of your own and team's technical skills

Who we are looking for- Professional experience

  • Experience of working in a consulting role in financial services, or a transformation role in industry, ideally banking or insurance
  • Experienced in M&A, synergy, integration and/or carve-out, and/or on change projects, restructuring or business improvement
  • Demonstrated ability to quickly assess the performance of a business (or elements of it) and outline improvement opportunities based upon limited information and/or interactions with senior management
  • Ability to quickly understand large amounts of information and draw out hypotheses and key messages
  • Extensive experience around IT and operational analysis to understand business processes, their associated costs and potential issues as well as opportunities for improvement
  • The ability to understand the impact of IT on commercial, financial and operational aspects of a business, ideally in the context of a transaction
  • Awareness of common IT application systems and infrastructure in one or more financial services sub-sectors
  • Knowledge of the key issues and challenges currently facing the financial services sector

The role

  • Understanding and administering our risk management process.

Skills needed

  • Proven office work experience.

Academic or professional qualifications needed

  • English and Maths GCSE at grades A to C (or equivalent).

The Portfolio Advisory Group (“PAG”) in London consists of C.20 specialists and is part of the wider European PAG team which totals 70 deal advisory specialists in Europe. The PAG team is a global team of credit experts dedicated to providing lead sell-side advisory, diligence and valuation advisory on all credit related transactions. This includes loan portfolio sales (performing and non-performing), forward flow partnerships, structuring deals for institutional investors and capital relief transactions (“CRTs”). The client project work carried out by the team falls into 3 main categories:

  • Strategic options analysis and implementation assisting clients to understand their portfolios, funding and capital requirements and the strategic options available to them.
  • This may include sale of the portfolio, run off, outsourcing of servicing, sourcing a funding partner, structuring CRTs etc.
  • We also assist with the accounting and regulatory impact of the options available.
  • Sell side advisory assisting vendors with the sale process relating to the disposal of loans or non-core assets.
  • This involves analysis of the portfolio, preparing the portfolio for sale, bidder sourcing and managing the sale process through to completion.
  • Buy side assistance assisting investors/bidders with due diligence, valuation, structuring and regulatory issues in relation to their targeted portfolios / assets.

We are ready to respond to crisis events all over the world. We specialise in forensically capturing and understanding huge volumes of unstructured data such as e-mails, Office documents and instant chat messages which can be collected from computers, servers, the Cloud and smartphones or tablets. We rely on these data sources to answer questions like who spoke to whom? How well did these people know each other? What did a person know, and when?

You will work on multiple concurrent and high profile projects and work alongside recognised industry specialists in computer forensics, data analytics, information management, electronic discovery, and disclosure. You will develop your network and build strong relationships with clients and senior members of the team.
