The individual:

Due to the nature of the team and the organisation / industry, the ideal individual would need to be someone of strong character and opinion; able to clearly articulate themselves under pressure / in the face of opposing ideas.

An individual who takes enjoyment from not being micro-managed; is able to take ownership and displays a sense of passion for the quality of their outcomes.

The client is not interested in 'yes' people. The right individual will be a Subject Matter Expert in the required areas (below) and offer clarity in these areas to other members of varying seniority; taking the 'freelance mindset' in to their role.

The role:

Due to the widespread knowledge base of the team, the right individual would have a few different capabilities. They will ideally be a data oriented Solution Architect as around 50% of the day to day activities will be looking after the data side of the business. An individual with a passion for the integration side of the business - someone who is able to speak to the design team about integration / development work. The right individual will also be fully aware of Java script (others considered).

Essential:

  • Strong experience / knowledge of solutions design
  • Ability to think laterally to solve problems and strong analytical experience
  • Experience of Architecture Frameworks (e.g. TOGAF)
  • Design Pattern experience (including Enterprise Design Patterns)
  • Experience with relevant toolsets
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Confidence in developing relationships, networking, negotiating and influencing people from diverse backgrounds, roles and personal drivers
  • Extensive experience around the Software Delivery Lifecycle (specifically analysis, architecture and design)
  • Relay complex technical solutions in to laymen's terms
  • Demonstrable experience working in a multidisciplinary environment and be a good team player
  • Innately thorough with an eye for detail; delivering high quality output to tight deadlines
  • The ability to absorb business and IT knowledge

Desirable:

  • Knowledge of Sparx Systems Enterprise Architect
  • Education to Degree Level
  • Relevant certifications (TOGAF etc)
  • Experience in Power Generation / energy industry
  • Working knowledge of relational databases (Microsoft SQL or Oracle)
  • Knowledge of Microsoft BizTalk

Advanced Excel, PowerPoint and SQL/ETL experience will be necessary in this role. You will have experience in data base design, data architecture, data mining and analytics. You will be proficient with data visualisation tools such as Tableau and Qlik, experience and interest in AI development and deployment would also be desired.
