  • Administer and support our 24/7 AWS based Docker infrastructure, ensuring it is secure, resilient and performant

  • Design and build the infrastructure to support our existing and upcoming financial products
  • Proactively audit the security of our systems
  • Document infrastructure setup making it replicable

  • Comfortable with shell scripting and creating Docker configuration
  • Comfortable with Git, creating pull-requests and peer-review
  • Reasonable experience of networks, security, load balancers, DNS and other infrastructure components
  • Excellent verbal and written communication

Extra bonus points:

  • BSc or MSc in Computer Science or relevant educational experience commensurate to a bachelor's
  • Experience with programming languages such as PHP, Python, and JavaScript

What exactly will I be doing then?

The Agency are looking to fully embrace cloud infrastructure to ensure that their projects are scalable, and as such they need a DevOps Engineer to come in and establish the parameters for this to happen, and to help them establish their DevOps environment moving forwards.

As this is a completely new direction for the Agency, they are looking for someone to come in and help them with the building of their cloud infrastructure. You will be a key member in supporting the decision-making strategies whilst building the platform.

They’ll also look to you to develop and promote adoption of CI/CD toolchains to support automation and control, including the leverage of infrastructure as code.

So, what exactly are they looking for in a DevOps Engineer?

  • Experience working with CI/CD Tools (Jenkins preferably)
  • Experience with Version Control tools (Git preferably)

In particular, this post will be working on a project to replace the statistical processing currently carried out by SAS in the CORD application with new functions developed in R.

  • Extensive knowledge and demonstrable experience of software development and support utilising the Java technology stack.
  • Demonstrable experience of application support and development utilising relational databases, ideally Oracle RDBMS.

Skills and Experience:

  • Extensive knowledge and demonstrable experience of software development and support utilising the Java technology stack.
  • Extensive knowledge of object-oriented design patterns and Java industry standard approaches.
  • Demonstrable experience of application support and development utilising relational databases, ideally Oracle RDBMS.
  • Demonstrable experience of implementation of Kafka and messaging systems
