Role - IT Project Engineer

Term - 4 Month FTC or Day rate

JOB DESCRIPTION:
• To be the technical lead on a number of infrastructure projects
• To devise optimal configurations for IT systems. To plan and advise on improvements to MBA’s systems, from initial design to rollout, taking full responsibility for the progress and completion of project work
• To work with the rest of MBA’s IT team and the wider business to provide sufficient pre-warning of any required down time
• To clearly update the Head of IT and rest of the IT team on work that has been completed and any problems encountered
• To fully document new and changed systems to ensure that company systems are transparent to other MBA I.T. staff
• To ensure project work is compliant with recognised security standards and best practices
• To ensure MBA remains compliant with all software licencing
KEY SKILLS:
Strong knowledge of and experience in managing:
• Server hardware, FC & iSCSI configuration, SAN storage
• Microsoft Hyper-V
• Microsoft Server Operating Systems, Active Directory, DNS, DHCP
• Microsoft Exchange
• Microsoft Office 365
• Microsoft SQL management
• Information Security systems and monitoring
• Security legislation and best practice
• Secure data transfer: SFTP, site to site VPN, Leased Lines
• Cisco firewalls and switches
• TCP/IP Networking
• VOIP telephony systems
Would be an advantage to have:
• Cloud Services: AWS and/or MS Azure
• Knowledge of security standards such as ISO27001
PERSON SPECIFICATION:
• Advanced problem solving and troubleshooting skills
• Well-developed communication skills in English (both verbal and written)
• Ability to communicate technical information to other IT staff, both senior and junior, non-technical staff and other technical teams i.e. software developers
• Strong customer service skills, including the ability to communicate directly with clients and suppliers on calls and face to face
• Ability to work as a strong team player in a fast-paced environment
• Capable of working on own initiative with little supervision. Ability to manage own time effectively
• Ability to work well under pressure across a variety of tasks and to project deadlines
