User Acceptance Testing Technician

What it’s about

We are currently recruiting for a User Acceptance Testing Technician within the Customer Services Group. Reporting to the UAT Manager, you will be part of a team responsible for carrying out the UAT for applications developed across many of the organisation’s initiatives, which include computer-based testing, e-learning and web-based stakeholder support systems. This will include the detailed preparation and execution of test cases for the various applications across different environments, the logging of defects and reporting to project stakeholders on testing progress. As a User Acceptance Testing Technician, you will also be required to liaise with project managers and developers to ensure that defects are categorised, prioritised and resolved within agreed timescales.

What you’ll be doing

  • Co-ordination of testing across test teams drawn from business users from various departments of Cambridge English
  • Defect logging, triage, prioritisation and review
  • Test case management, including writing, reviewing and execution
  • Meeting with test teams, developers, project manager and business owners
  • Reporting

What we’re looking for

You will be required to demonstrate a high level of general IT expertise within an MS Windows environment, including knowledge of database and website technologies. Familiarity with defect-tracking systems and the production of software-related documentation would also be an advantage.

You will be educated at least to A-level standard and will ideally have a formal software testing or computing-related qualification. Previous work experience in an IT support or software testing environment would be a distinct advantage. You must be confident, enthusiastic and able to work in a high-pressure environment as part of a close-knit team. Excellent attention to detail is essential, as is a customer focussed mentality.
