We have an exciting opportunity for E Systems Software Engineer working for automotive tier 1 supplier based in Gaydon, Warks

The successful candidate will be responsible of software rapid prototyping is to enable client and customer systems engineering teams to rapidly and iteratively in defining system functional specifications with a focus on areas of functionality that are new, have a high degree of complexity, or have significant dependencies and/or interactions with other sub-systems inside or outside of the vehicle in collaboration with customer engineering team

Secondary purpose is to provide deeper understanding in the software implementation to client team on site to confirm issue and support fault finding.

Our Client, an innovative Research & Development manufacturing company supporting Automotive OEM and Tier 1 suppliers, specialising in the latest Head-Up Display (HUD) technology, are actively seeking an experienced Senior Hardware Engineer with Automotive experience to join their Product Development Team on a permanent basis. You will be responsible for the development and delivery of complex Automotive-grade Electronics for their Holographic AR HUD platform. Working in a multi-disciplinary engineering team, and tightly co-ordinating with the customer and manufacturing engineers, you will be the lead for producing hardware from working reference designs through Automotive product development cycles to mass production.

On offer to the successful candidate will be an almost unrivalled remuneration package, to include a highly negotiable basic salary (based on relevant experience), together with a full benefits package.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • -Interact with a high-performing R&D team to understand system requirements and performance issues of the design to be manufactured.
  • -Work within the product development team to ensure the electronics hardware is developed in accordance to specification and customer requirements, and to schedule.
  • -Initiate and instil rigorous best-practice hardware development processes for automotive.
  • -Support automotive development processes, with familiarity of APQP and design validation steps.
  • -Take part in and conduct hardware design reviews and test plans.
  • -Review outsourced PCB designs for good design practice and performance to automotive specifications. Drive design optimization and quality.
  • -Provide hardware testing support, including designing and building test benches, systems interfaces for functional testing, and end-of line production tests.
  • -Support troubleshooting and RCA when problems are identified. Manage electrical system testing (including EMC), supporting on-site at customers.

Qualifications and Experience ideally required:

  • -A Degree qualification is preferable, ideally in Electronics Engineering, Computer Science or a related Technical one, although those without this qualification, but with relevant working experience considered.
  • -You should be an experienced Hardware Engineer with strong Automotive manufacturing industry experience.
  • -You will have experience bringing up complex PCBs from reference design to mass production in Automotive products.
  • -Significant experience of embedded systems development; expert knowledge of microcontrollers, and communications and network interface protocols such as SPI, I2C, UART, CAN and ethernet. LVDS interfaces in the GB/s range.
  • -Digital hardware design, especially designs with MCUs, FPGAs, high speed memory (SDRAM (DDR3) and mixed-signal ASICs needed.
  • -Good knowledge and experience of board-level analog electronics: power supplies, filters, references, sensors and optoelectronic components neeed.
  • -Knowledge and experience of good design practical for EMC. Testing experience and solutions for EMC.
  • -Experience of automotive test and validation procedures and evidence of troubleshooting in and finding rapid solutions needed.
  • -Hands-on’ electronics engineering, capable of testing/debugging with lab equipment (oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, etc).  
  • -Experience of Display products and knowledge of interfaces and protocols, including FPD-Link, OpenLDI and HDMI would be very useful as would any experience of Embedded C, C++, C#, MATLAB.
