Senior Software Engineer

This is an exciting new opportunity to work as a Senior Software Engineer with a client I am working with in Oxford.

This opportunity allows you to work alongside talented colleagues in an enthusiastic company that combines cutting-edge science with commercial delivery. You will have the opportunity to improve peoples lives as you will work on of the largest and fastest growing genotype-phenotype databases in the world.

Technical Skills:

* Skill coding in multiple programming languages (C#/C++/Java/Python)
* Dedication to lifelong learning and a willingness to teach and learn from peers.
* Critical thinking skills, familiarity with basic statistics, and attention to detail.
* Good communication skills, including the ability to communicate complex ideas to an audience with a range of technical backgrounds.
* Enthusiasm for problem solving and interest in being part of transformative work in the field of genomics and healthcare.

Your background should include:

* Substantial experience producing useful software collaboratively and in partnership with users.
* A track record of using good software development practices (e.g. distributed source code management, code review, testing, pair programming) to facilitate collaborative work.
* Experience with performance measurement and profiling of applications using Linux-based operating systems and tools.
* Some experience with DevOps would be beneficial (e.g. continuous integration, continuous testing, release automation, infrastructure as code, applications monitoring), ideally including work with public cloud services.

We are Looking for a seasoned Java engineer who has hands-on configuration and administration experience with application servers. You will be working on Java servers' management and configurations, performance monitoring, capacity management and issue escalation from Operations point of view. You will be supporting the J2EE application servers, working as part of the Web team.

Skills required

*Extensive experience with J2EE application servers - RedHat Jboss EAP, Oracle Weblogic, IBM WebSphere
*Expert knowledge and administration experience with Linux, Windows and AIX
*J2EE Server deployment and management
