Are you an experienced Embedded Software Engineer looking to work on projects that have a direct impact on lives? Look no further and apply for this role! A vacancy as part of expansion for an Embedded Software Engineer is now available in Leeds where you will be working on the full product lifecycle with everything done on site right from requirements capture and leasing closely with the Electronics Engineering.

As there Embedded Software Engineer you will be mostly programming in C with some C++ which would be an advantage and be able to write C# or have an appreciation for testing and configuration of Firmware. Your will have responsibility over the design, development and testing of the embedded device firmware. The company also offer a degree of flexible working with a fun environment and working atmosphere!

Core skills/Roles/Responsibilities include:-
*Design, Development and testing of embedded device firmware.
*Excellent C development
*Some understanding of C++
*Ability to write C#/ higher level applications for testing and configuration of firmware.

*RTOS experience (FreeRTOS or similar)

Key Experience

  • Front end development - Enables us to build applications for the colleague & customer. Typically via the creation of the visual interface of an online or digital asset using JavaScript, HTML5, CSS or UI development
  • Back end development - Makes sure everything works well for our colleague & customers and helps us use data in the right way. It is the coding of scripts in web sites and applications that interact with servers and databases so that their functionality is delivered to the end user. Typically we use C#, Mainframe (COBOL/JCL), SQL, Oracle/Unix and JAVA/CICS/DB2.
  • Business Rules – This development brings to life the various functional aspects of our systems to drive interaction between our colleagues and customers and also support our colleagues in servicing customer needs.
  • Agile Delivery - Agile delivery methods encourage teams to focus on collaboration, transparency, continuous improvement and the delivery of the highest value item first. It is useful when going after a complex problem that requires experimentation and continued adaption. Scrum is a key method we use which advocates a series of meetings (ceremonies) and activities known as sprints to help teams deliver change

The role of the Quality Test Engineer is vital in ensuring the products we deliver are fit for purpose and meet the quality and standards that our customers expect.

We’ve created “LBG Labs” and we're building multi-functional, co-located teams giving them freedom to bring technology to the forefront of our business. This will create new, and improve existing, products and services to help us really make a difference to our customers.

Insurance & Wealth Transformation is the division you would sit within, our Financial Planning & Retirement Value Stream has ambitious plans to significantly grow our engineering teams this year and into 2020.

How does the Quality Test Engineer role fit in?

Labs are co-located teams who work together on key projects to deliver value at pace by designing services that people find useful, easy and engaging to use. Typically, a Lab has a strong focus on complex problem solving in an agile environment where engineers are free to experiment and create innovative products which will transform the way our customers engage with us.

Joining us as a Quality Engineer, you will be a part of the quality engineering chapter in platform lab and will also work with the chapter lead to help the achieve the chapter objectives..  You would aim to deliver exciting customer driven solutions whilst reducing risk by implementing the right level of engineering artefacts through Agile testing, with an "Automation first" approach in every phase of the software delivery process that aids speed to market and better quality.

Want more detail? Other specific activities would include defining acceptance testing criteria, endorsing modern testing best practices, working with relevant people to understand the solution choices, maintaining traceability, building trust in the quality of the product, identifying defects and lastly to be a quality engineering champion within Lloyds!

What we'd love to see from you:

We like people who come from a variety of backgrounds and welcome having a diverse team.  To be considered for the role as a minimum we would need to see the following in this rough order of priority:

  • 2 years + experience within a modern quality test engineering role, with a good knowledge of the full test lifecycle, test models, testing best practices and test benchmarking.
  • An ‘automation first’ approach to testing with a passion for driving productivity and a focus on reducing risk within teams.  This includes experience of hands on coding activities, ideally within C#.NET but other languages will suffice as long as you have coding experience.
  • Experience working within a DevOps & Agile working environment.
  • Experience of Selenium & Cucumber.
  • Good people skills and the ability to work in an effective, passionate & fun multi-functional team.
