As Systems Administrator you will be responsible for supporting and managing the on-premise, hybrid and cloud IT Infrastructure services and systems for Nominet and its customers. This role is a great opportunity for the right candidate to gain exposure to a wide range of technologies that underpin the critical national infrastructure for the UK registry services. 

Job Summary:

  • Proactively understand and manage both the hardware and software to provide excellent technical support 

  • Work with the wider infrastructure team to deliver infrastructure projects in line with the technical roadmap across multiple technologies and platforms 

  • Management of infrastructure to provide high quality support 

  • Support project activity and balance this with support and administrative tasks 

  • Manage datacentre visits, audits, server install and removal 

  • Server builds/decomission 

  • Build tools/scripts and support previously developed tools and improve automation  

  • Provide support dealing with incidents, daily checks, upgrades, changes, backups & monitoring 

  • Understand and improve/support monitoring infrastructure 

  • Work within an ITIL/ISO 20000 framework to preserve vital production services and produce appropriate documentation 

  • Work to Service Level Agreements to manage uptime and performance of both systems and services 

  • Required for on-call 

Key Requirements:

  • Experience working in System Administration, Server Administation or DevOps role and have proven experience of: 

  • Working within service level agreements 

  • Delivering infrastructure projects 

  • Understanding of a broad range of infrastructure technologies 

Must have good knowledge and experience with: 

  • Linux – Redhat RHEL6/7/8 

  • Ansible & Terraform 

  • VMWare 

  • Cloud

C/C++ Developer for exciting new design project! With excellent practical design skills and evidence of proven C++ the developer will be joining a small entrepreneurial team in a systems level development project.

The company are 8yrs old and turning over GBP16million to date. Expansion plans from 30 staff to 50 in the next 5 years.

Working with the existing C/C++ Embedded senior developer you will be involved in discussing design issues and producing solutions to overcome new issues. As such, the role will offer the successful C++ developer an opportunity to produce novel & exciting new code and new design to the product.

With a 2.i degree in a numerate subject (Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics or similar - strong mathematical, analysis and problem solving skills a must) the C++ Developer will have most of the following:

C/C++
Some C#.NET beneficial
Embedded Linux
Systems level development
Version control (GIT or similar)
use of serial comm protocols (eg ModBUS)

Working with an Embedded Linux build the C++ developer can embark on a new code based product the client are building. In addition, skills with web applications & web interface using Qt advantageous. Any Cloud based experience or understanding with AWS/Azure or GCP advantageous.

Requirements:

Graduate with a 1st Class/2.i Degree from a top University. BSc, MSc, PhD in Engineering/Physics/Mathematics/Computer Science/Information Technology/Computer Engineering/Software Engineering/Sciences or similar discipline.
Minimum 5 years C/C++ commercial experience
Use of Python or another OO language (Java, C#, Perl etc.) as projects tend to be cross-platform
Good technical communicator

In addition, there is an opportunity to get involved with the deployment of the software.
