Avanti Recruitment are currently working with a Sports and Betting company based in Central London that are looking for a Python Data Engineer who will be responsible for building and monitoring their platform for analysing data.

The company are going through a period of growth and as part of this they are scaling their current data platform using cloud technologies. They are therefore looking for someone that can explore ways of innovating their platform, make suggestions for change and implement this across the team. My client is looking at taking on a DevOps engineer for an initial 1-month contract which will be outside IR35. They are able to offer 2/3 days remote but the remaining days are needed on-site in Bristol.

The DevOps Engineer / Lead Platform Engineer will work within a team of approx. 10 DevOps and Systems Administrators responsible for the build, configuration, installation and deployment of new environments is undertaken using cutting edge tools such as Docker and Kubernetes to automate processes around containerisation and use Terraform for spinning up of both development and production services in both Ubunutu and CentOS/RedHat. As a senior engineer you will work as the platform lead and take on some team leadership responsibilities albeit from a technical perspective and through working closely with the Head of IT.
We are searching for a DevOps Engineer / Lead Engineer who has a background as a Systems Administrator / DevOps Engineer / Linux Sys Admin / and has remained technical but not necessarily hands-on. You will have ideally gained significant experience within large-scale enterprise environments in both a ands-on DevOps/Sys Admin capacity with some leadership responsibilities. You will be comfortable building Linux environments with Ubuntu and/or CentOS and have solid shell scripting abilities for both code and application deployments and server management in production. You will have experience of deploying confuiguring and subsequently using tools for server deployment and containerisation and will be familiar with Terraform, Kubernetes and Docker.
Secondary experience which would also be of interest include an ability and/or background of experience in Java programming or Python/Perl, any experience with the deployment of applications which utilise Microservice architectures within AWS or any team leadership/management activities would also be of interest but non-essential.
Experience gained within a Saas (Software-as-a-Service) environment would be highly desirable and extremely useful in this FinTech environment.
