A well know company which has been part of the UK Leisure, Travel and Tourism industry for the last 80 years are in a really exciting period where they have had sign off for a full analytics function who will report into 3 different Senior Managers across Data, Analytics and Customer Inisghts

THE COMPANY

The company is a well recognised pillar of the tourism industry with a number of instantly recognisable brands. They have a workforce over 10,000 and are still very new on their data journey and it has been proved extremely valuable with a proof of concept project and has resulted in huge investment and buy in from the business

THE ROLE

If you were to be successful in your application for this Senior Data Manager role, your responsibilities would include:

  • Lead the customer data and reporting team and key data projects for one of their major brands
  • Define and manage the data roadmap and delivery of customer behaviour reporting.
  • Understand the key sources of data currently used and analyse how it can be enhanced, finding new ways in which the data can be utilised to improve performance in a totally Greenfield environment
  • Build accurate reporting which offers a holistic view of customer behaviours, helps the business priorities plus identifies new opportunities for deeper analysis
  • Lead the development of new data structures /definitions/KPI's to leverage better reporting, analytical and insight from data (in conjunction with the data hub team).
  • Lead and coach a team of reporting developers and analysts as well as be lead on the selection of tools, technologies and strategy going forward

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

In order for your application for the Senior Data Manager role to be successful you will need;

  • Strong experience building a suite of reporting and analysis in a customer focused company before
  • Strong Excel, SQL and a modern BI tool such as Tableau, Qlikview, Looker, Power BI, Spotfire etc
  • Experience hiring and mentoring more junior analysts and developers
  • Experience and enthusiasm of contributing to or creating data and reporting strategy

THE ROLE

On a daily basis you will be:

  • Utilise the appropriate development, data engineering (ETL & ELT, stream processing), test and release model(s) and be flexible with your approach
  • Apply the appropriate standards and principles when delivering data ingestion and data transformation into target data models
  • Convert algorithms, models and features created by data scientists, analysts and designers from prototypes/designs into production solutions
  • Deliver, cost effective, appropriate capabilities for the business.
  • Create Data Lakes & Data Pipelines

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • An engineer with a passion for delivering solutions to customers
  • Someone who likes to roll up their sleeves and enjoys learning
  • An understanding of data modelling, access an storage
  • Self-driven and constantly striving to improve your skills
  • Advocate of agile/lean delivery methodologies
  • Programming in one or more languages within our data eco-system e.g. Java, Scala, Python.
