Job Title Devops Engineer
Location Radbroke Hall


This role sits in our Channels engineering team. In the Channels Engineering team we are looking for techies who are excited by coding, interested in DevOps and passionate about user experience. The area is responsible for delivery from the initial idea through to implementation of the features used by both Barclays customers and our colleagues. Our multi-channel applications (MCAs) are provided across web, mobile, telephony and contact center platforms. The MCA Devops team supports the automated delivery of applications from feature teams into production.  The team maintains and continually develops a CI/CD pipeline and other associated tooling to help manage a large estate of containers running in openshift.

What will you be doing?


• Working within the DevOps team to define the strategic direction of the platform
• Work closely with development teams across local and remote locations
• Working with architects and system designers to define high-level solutions
• Writing detailed stories for the DevOps elements within the platform road map
• Creating DevOps scripts using Jenkins, Gradle, Open Shift and other DevOps related technology
• Working with Java Developers and Automation Test Engineers to implement complete CI/CD pipelines
• Supporting Monitoring Tools Integration like Appd, WILY , ELK etc
• Improving internal team processes by delivering tools/processes for other teams/customers to be able to 'help themselves' and ensure we are as automated as possible

What we’re looking for:


• Hands on experience in scripting languages – Groovy/Powershell/Gradle/Maven/Curl
• Experience in CI /CD management tools especially Jenkins.
• Experience with Cloud infrastructure services, Redhat Openshift V2/V3, container platforms, Kubernetes and build jobs, experience with Docker configuration
• Good understanding of the role of security in a pipeline

Skills that will help you in the role:


• Experience working in a Java environment (J2EE, SpingBoot, Maven, Gradle) and integrating with code quality tools (SonarQube, veracode)
• Focus on pipeline metrics and using data to improve the efficiency of a pipeline
• Experience of automation of governance/compliance processes
• Disciplined approach to unit testing, automated testing, and quality assurance

Job Title: Windows Server Admin

The Chief Operating Office is responsible for leading the global operations and technology functions, driving structural reform, cost transformation programmes and other major bank-wide projects.


We help our businesses to automate, simplify and grow by improving efficiency and delivering with agility and effective controls. We are creating the best environment for our colleagues and attracting the best technology talent to join our teams.


This is a great opportunity for a Windows Server Admin to play a key technical role in driving many infrastructure activities across various projects. You will work in an up to date OS corporate environment, with over 15,000 windows servers on the estate. You will also pick up CHEF skills and have the opportunity to work in the Cloud via AMS or Azure moving forward.


The role also comes with out of hours work (voluntary) and on-call (1 week in 10).


What will you be doing?


• Provide technical support to facilitate design and delivery of business driven changes
• Working with the Product Managers and Platform Engineers to upgrade Infrastructure/Services
• Implement solutions in line with technology roadmaps and global strategy
• Close liaison with the Design & Development, Release Management, Service Management and 2nd line production / support functions
• Support of Windows Clusters, Antivirus, backups, deployment tools and monitoring tools
• Problem resolution including: problem management, root cause analysis and implementation of remedies
• Knowledge and use of the change / configuration management system.


What we’re looking for:


• Windows Server exposure (2008/2012/2016 and rolling out 2019)
• Fault finding exposure, working with service operation team on L3 / L4 issues
• Major incident exposure
• Excellent communication skills, able to deal with senior stakeholders on project related updates.


Skills that will help you in the role:


• Appreciation of Citrix / VMware (understand what the products are, how windows server runs on these platforms)
• Network knowledge (DNS, DHCP, Network Switches / Routers)
• CHEF Configuration management exposure
• Scripting exposure (VBscript, PowerShell, Ruby).

You will be working at our technology hub in the North West, located at Radbroke Hall in Knutsford. As the Direct Relationship Support Team Leader you’ll be managing and developing teams who put customers and clients alike at the heart of everything we do. You’ll be a problem solver, a creative thinker and committed to delivering first class customer service. We are passionate about developing relationships, creating a personal experience for every customer, client and developing our colleagues throughout their careers.

What will you be doing?

• You will support the Head of Business Banking Support to deliver a world class service driving forwards the ‘Go-to’ bank ethos and treating customers fairly
• Conducting day to day Barclays Business Support Operations including allocation and prioritisation of workload and customer support
• You will monitor SLAs in place with internal / external parties ensuring any breaches are reported to the Operations Manager to manage customer’s expectations
• Managing the development of staff and identifying relevant training requirements where necessary
• You will actively contribute to recruitment assessments / interviews and general activity within the business area 
• You will engage, inspire, support and own and the team’s performance by creating clarity, commitment and a positive working environment
• Managing the Barclays business support staff on a day to day basis identifying relevant training needs and ensuring performance reviews are undertaken promptly
• Delivering substantial cost reduction through simplification and streamlining of process

What we’re looking for:

• A proven track record of leading a team and working in customer service and building high quality relationships in a telephony environment
• You will be able to demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills is essential as you will be dealing with detailed information and data
• A genuine desire to provide excellent customer service
• Great time management and able to think on your feet and problem solve creatively

Skills that will help you in the role:

• Management and leadership skills within a customer service team
• Broad understanding of relevant legislation policies and strategies across the group
