Projects Senior Software Control Systems Engineer

My client a systems integrator working within waste and water treatment, oil and gas, pharmaceutical and manufacturing industries. is seeking a Senior Software Control Systems Engineer to join one of their Projects teams based in the Bristol area. Reporting to the Project team leader the role is to contribute to delivering automation projects to the company's key accounts. The role will include being the Technical Lead in the development of PLC, HMI and SCADA software on high value projects in a fast paced and evolving industry sector. The role also includes a significant amount of customer facing duties and some site work. Our expectations would be for you to be a proactive team player that strives to deliver high quality work and the highest level of customer service.

Main Responsibilities

  • Commit to the whole life cycle of delivering projects from start to finish
  • Ability to foster great relationships with customers, suppliers and colleagues
  • Produce design and test documentation
  • Develop PLC, HMI and SCADA software
  • Perform testing with customers
  • Carry out on-site commissioning
  • Compile training manuals and run customer training sessions

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Ability to work unsupervised.
  • Advanced level of experience with Wonderware (System Platform), Rockwell, Siemens and Schneider based SCADA platforms and HMIs with an appetite to learn new technologies.
  • Advanced level of experience with Rockwell, Siemens, Schneider and Mitsubishi PLC platforms, with an appetite to learn new technologies, would be an advantage.
  • Would be great but not essential to have good understanding of setting up, commissioning, and fault finding of industrial networks (DeviceNet, Profibus, ProfiNet, Ethernet)
  • Electrical Faultfinding experience and/or 17th-18th Edition Qualified would also be a bonus but not essential.
  • 8+ years experience of writing software and working with customers delivery projects.
  • Experience of working in an engineering environment
  • Highly motivated, organised and flexible
  • Positive, personable and happy team player
  • Think outside the box and push the boundaries
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office incl. Word, Excel & Outlook.

Our specialist UK born Manufacturing client based in Greenford are actively seeking a Technical Administrator to work within the Production Engineering department.

The company have an ambitious 5 year plan which includes doubling capacity and tripling their turnover.

The Technical Administrator will have the following main responsibilities:

  • Audit the manufacturing processes against the existing documentation (listed below) and highlight any discrepancies

    o ExistingSOPs
    o Assemblydrawings o Processflows
    o Technicalfiles.

  • Update the SOPs to our new format. This will include writing instructions in plain, simple English; drawing basic diagrams and adding symbols; taking clear photographs and labelling them.

  • Maintain the register of manuals.

  • Manage the sign off procedure and collect feedback from different departments.

  • Communicate any changes formally through to the wider company.

  • Assist with any changes requested through the new Engineering Change ECN process.

  • Help build, validate and maintain the Bills of Material within our new ERP system.

  • Work closely with the training manager to ensure that SOPs are appropriate and understood.

  • Provide consultancy help to the team responsible for producing the video-based training material.

  • Ensure that correct health and safety procedures are adopted by consulting the relevant trained parties.

The Technical Administrator will have the following skills and experience:

  • Excellent understanding of Engineering principles and assembly processes – you must be able to understand how to use a torque wrench in order to write a manual about it. Training can be provided.

  • Ability to write complex instructions in clear, simple English, in as few words as possible – many of our operators do not speak English as their first language.

  • Keen eye for photography and the ability to identify good/bad lighting conditions.

  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to talk to many different characters – you will spend

    a lot of time on the factory floor consulting factory operators about the work they do.

  • Good IT skills, you must be able to use Microsoft Word and Excel (data tables and filtering).

  • Excellent self-motivation and the desire to pro-actively identify and undertake new projects.

  • A critical, methodical mind capable of comparing different data sources.

  • A hands-on practical approach.
