We have a fantastic opportunity here at Domestic & General in Nottingham for a full time, permanent Instructional Designer to join our Digital Learning team.
As an Instructional Designer, reporting to our Digital Learning Manager, you will creatively and effectively use technology to design, develop and deliver innovative learning solutions for use across the business, designing e-learning and broader leadership content to deliver business results and engage our learners.
In addition, you will work closely with the Digital team and partner with stakeholders across the business to understand their needs and engage with users, whilst actively promoting awareness of online learning solutions and the benefits of the Learning Management System. As an Instructional Designer you will manage the end to end process, using your expertise to create engaging learning experiences, as well as new content.
Key Role Responsibilities
Work with the business to design, develop and deliver online and blended learning solutions:
- Work collaboratively with the business and L&D teams to identify areas where learning will make a difference by improving business performance
- Use consultancy skills to propose learning solutions to address business needs
- Build and maintain relationships with both UK based and European stakeholders
- Effectively prioritise, plan and project manage content development in line with business requirements
- Work with SME’s to determine appropriate learning content
- Apply instructional design theories to create well structured, engaging courses that educate, embed knowledge and deliver the intended and measurable results
- Design and develop innovative interactive online learning content using a range of media including audio and video
- Ensure learning is developed to a consistently high quality and meets our company branding guidelines, internal standards and regulatory requirements
- Simultaneously manage multiple, complex projects with tight deadlines and time-critical deliverables through their entire life cycle
- Participate in the internal quality assurance cycle to review and evaluate all online learning developed internally
- Manage regular learning content reviews to incorporate revised product information and ensure adherence to business rules and compliance
- Ensure appropriate evaluation methods are used to determine return on investment of learning
- Work collaboratively with LMS Administrator to ensure all digital content is uploaded, reportable and available in a timely manner for colleagues to access
- Keep up to date with learning technologies and the online learning industry
Required skills and experience:
- Experience of designing and developing innovative interactive online learning solutions using a range of media including audio and video
- Knowledge and experience in all aspects of the training cycle – Training needs analysis, Design, Delivery and Evaluation.
- Knowledge of instructional design theories, of Articulate Storyline and Adobe Creative Suite
- Knowledge of Learning Management Systems (preferably Totara Learn or Moodle) and SCORM
- MS Office: Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, Access, Visio and SharePoint
- Knowledge of xAPI (tin can)
- Creative thinking and innovative approach
- Enthusiastic, investigative, proactive with ideas
- Fresh approach to problem solving
- Have a strong ‘can-do’ attitude and thrive on working across multiple projects
- Great written and oral communication skills
- Excellent organisational skills to plan and manage time
- Strong attention to detail for quality assurance of online courses
- Passionate about online learning and learning technologies
- Ability to consult/influence stakeholders and SME’s
- Flexible, adaptable and reliable
From time to time, as deemed appropriate, travel to other D&G sites will be required.
