About the Role

The role of Application Support Analyst is responsible for providing technical and quality systems support through monitoring, triaging, user liaison, and identifying and providing solutions to software faults and enhancements in the current IT systems.

Acting as a primary point of contact after the Service Desk for resolving system issues, you will be responsible for providing advice and guidance to the rest of the development team through delivering detailed analysis that will lead to the resolution of incidents, changes, requests and problems.

You will also be supporting the Internal Service Owner in case of outsourcing of any support practice and activity to a Managed Service Provider (MSP), being responsible for the daily liaison with the MSP.

The salary for this role is circa £50,000per annum depending on experience.

About You

It is essential the successful candidate has the following skills and experience;

  • Knowledge of Incident, Problem & Change Management and Service Delivery Industry best practice (e.g. ITIL)
  • Experience in dealing with 3rd parties’ providers and MSPs
  • Experience of bespoke and customised IT systems
  • Evidence of analysing and documenting business processes and systems
  • In depth understanding of the principles, methods, techniques and tools of change process management and their relationship to project management and business improvement
  • Good understanding of systems and ability to assimilate and interpret advice from technical specialists and third parties
  • A sound understanding of the software development lifecycle
  • Demonstrable skills and proficient in writing/modifying SQL scripts
  • Working knowledge of web site related technologies, including web servers/hosting, internet protocols and other standards (e.g. FTP, SFTP etc.)

The ideal candidate would have an advantage if they held the following skills and experience:

  • Demonstrable skills in working with Web APIs
  • Experience of implementation and usage of Monitoring systems like Microsoft App insights, AppDynamics or Splunk
  • Exposure to agile best practices (SCRUM)
  • CMS experience (Ideally Sitecore)
  • Desirable Cloud and network awareness with knowledge of Azure, Load Balancers, Proxy Servers, DNS and WAFs
  • Knowledge of the basics of DevOps practices
  • Exposure to C#.NET, MVC, RESTful WebApis
  • Experience in front-end web development. JavaScript (JSON/XML), CSS with modern
  • JavaScript Frameworks (such as ReactJS, or Angular) and Node.JS
  • Any project management qualification

I’m currently recruiting for a Business Analyst to be based in South Birmingham. The company are a specialist in software solutions for shipping. You will be joining a small talented team who deliver web applications, data consultancy and integration platforms for the marine industry.

The role will involve working in an agile methodology and will require you to wear many hats, your core duties will revolve around requirement gathering for new projects and liaising with stakeholders. You will also work with the QA to help them understand requirements as well as working closely with the development team and creating wireframes. You’ll help with the implementation of new systems pre-release and creating documentation.

What we’re looking for someone who has experience and passion for being a BA who is happy to research and become an expert in marine data developments. This is a great opportunity to join a small company where you can make a difference and be involved in the entire process.

Beyond generic BA traits, key things we’re looking for:

- "Gets" software development - a bit of scripting / SQL experience would be very handy

- Software house background, working with developers to figure out what needs building.
