Java Developer / Software Engineer (Java GUI Linux Web interfaces). Are you a fiercely ambitious Java Developer looking for an opportunity to take full ownership of Java development in a world-leading company? As a Java Developer, you'll play a critical role in building a brand new web GUI to replace the existing Java Swing GUI. You'll be granted the agency to take the reins on the direction of development, acting as the in house Java expert and driving the major refactor of the existing Java code base.

This Java Developer role would suit someone with a keen interest in ground-breaking software and science, keen to keep pace with emerging technologies and take full ownership of their work. You'll work with a solid tech stack including Java in a Linux environment.

Requirements:

*Degree educated (2.1 or above, BSc, MSc, PhD) from a Red Brick University
*Strong Java 8 (or later) language and library skills, including collections
*Good working knowledge of developing with web technologies, e.g. Java Spring, HTML, Bootstrap
*Good experience with web-based software
*Desirable: experience with OOD / Unit testing / genuine interest in chemistry and emerging technologies

This is a great opportunity to for someone in Support to really establish themselves in a Microsoft Partner. You will get the chance to work on the latest technology, be given clear career progression and work a number of different sectors.

You will be expected to;

  • Maintain a high degree of customer service for all support queries and adhere to all service management principles, working to defined SLA’s.
  • Support the key account management team on production improvement team calls (PIT) and provide technical advice to the customer on your product application
  • Provide 3rd line technical problem management support, answering support queries via phone, email and ticket allocation.
  • Provide 2nd support and ongoing training specific to product you are supporting.
  • Investigate and lead cross function root cause analysis (RCA) investigations and provide detailed reports with agreed actions to remedy covering people, process, product. This will require close cooperation with other business functions notably Product, Deployment, Risk and other L3 product SME’s.

Sills needed;

Where gaps in skills, knowledge and experience, are apparent ai will look to tailor and invest a structured training program for the right candidate.

  • Extensive experience in supporting MS SQL based software applications, ideally associated with payments or billing systems.
  • Strong working knowledge of deploying, configuring, troubleshooting and supporting Microsoft technologies
  • An in-depth knowledge of MS SQL Server and creation of MS SQL scripting is essential.
  • Multiple years of commercial Database Administration experience working with MS SQL Standard and Enterprise 2014/2016 onwards
  • Experience of managing a large number of MS SQL Server instances
  • RDBMS on large systems in a commercial data centre context
  • Experience of configuring MS SQL for high availability and Disaster Recovery using SQL Clustering, Mirroring and AlwaysOn Availability Groups
  • Practical experience in monitoring and tuning a database to provide a highly available service.
  • Experience of writing complex T-SQL, including stored procedures, tables, triggers etc
  • Windows server (AD, GPO, CA, DNS, DHCP, WSUS, HYPER-V).
