Security Architect – Birmingham – £100,000 plus benefits

I am currently working on a newly created position for a leading financial services company in Birmingham who are looking to hire a Security Architect to play a key role in defining and assessing the company’s security strategy, architecture and practices. The Security Architect will be responsible for translating business objectives and Information Security risk management strategies into specific security processes.

The Security Architect will work closely with other Architects in the Enterprise Architecture team and will develop a close relationship with the company’s internal Information Security team, which is currently over 20 people with plans to grow further.

The core duties and responsibilities of the successful candidate are:

  • Develop security strategy plans and roadmaps based on sound enterprise architecture practices.
  • Implement baseline security configuration standards for operating systems (e.g., operating system hardening), network segmentation, and identity and access management (IAM) in security architectures.
  • Create architectures based on standardized security frameworks - Cyber Essentials PLUS, NCSC Azure recommended architectures, CIS (Centre for Internet Security).
  • Managing projects with multiple stakeholders and engaging with key people at all levels within the organization.

The ideal candidate for this role will have:

  • Prior experience designing IAM technologies and services (e.g., Active Directory, LDAP).
  • Experience designing the deployment of applications and infrastructure into cloud services (e.g. Microsoft Azure).
  • Hands-on experience managing security infrastructure such as firewalls, IPSs, WAFs, endpoint protection, SIEM and log management technology.
  • CISSP, CISM or CISA qualified.

This is a great opportunity for an experienced Senior Cyber Consultant who has experience designing, implementing and managing security infrastructure to move into a Security Architect role. Equally, if you’ve been contracting and are considering moving to a permanent role because of the recent IR35 changes, then it’s unlikely that a more role of this stature and seniority will come around again so don’t delay.

Phone interviews are scheduled for later this week. Send your CV to or call Brian on for further details.
