The ideal candidate would have experience working with Information Technology and be able to demonstrate their ability to rise to new challenges and possess excellent written and verbal communication skills. Prior experience in cyber security is essential.

This role is for an Information Security Assurance Auditor therefore candidates must have strong experience undertaking this type of role, be able to undertake those responsibilities described below and demonstrate the desired skills and qualifications. Candidates who are unable to meet the responsibilities of the role will not be co

Responsibilities:

  • Audit of internal services and systems in line with the client's internal information security policies


Skills:

  • A demonstrable passion for Cyber Security
  • A detailed and proven understanding of network infrastructure, system and application architecture and associated security controls within highly complex environments
  • Experience in public cloud application hosting, mobile and web application security
  • Proven understanding of current best practise approach to security assurance and the application of security frameworks (E.g. NCSC 10 Steps to Security, CIS 20 Critical Controls, NIST, ISO27001)
  • Experience in project and development methodologies covering; architecture pattern development, requirements analysis, design review and project risk assessment
  • Planning and prioritising multiple project work streams in response to rapidly developing and changing portfolios
  • Turning business problems into optimal technical security designs, aligning user needs with systems requirements and organisational goals
  • Experience of supplier and third party risk management
  • Capable of making and guiding effective decisions, explaining clearly how decisions have been reached and the ability to understand and resolve technical disputes across varying levels of complexity and risk
  • Highly effective written and verbal communications skills

The successful applicant will assist in maintaining the security of the operational systems as part of a wider team.

Position
This System Security Officer role is primarily based out of Abbey Wood, with opportunities for periods of work in the South of England. The successful applicant will have a background in IT and security, although a desire to learn new skills, procedures and technologies will be essential.

Responsibilities:

· Maintaining and managing a register of assets

· Working closely with System Manager / Administrators and other Support Staff to ensure secure operation of the system at all times

· Using the Protective Monitoring capability (based around ArcSight)

· Enforcing Security Operating Procedures, maintaining local security instructions and seeking continuous improvement of them

· Liaising with the Project Support Manager over 3rd line support issues

· Liaising with local site security personnel as required

· Responding to security incidents, including initial investigation, reporting to external agencies such as MODCERT and the Joint Cyber Unit, and support to resolution

· Reporting any system security loopholes, breaches or vulnerabilities which may come to light

Competencies:

· Willingness to travel and work independently at customer site

· Systems Engineering, Systems Support or Asset Management

· Willingness to provide telephone support out of hours, with occasional visits to site to resolve out of hours issues

Experience (While not essential, a mixture of skills and experience in some of the following areas is desirable):

· Defence/Secure Systems (JSP440)

· Cyber Security knowledge

· Windows, Linux, ArcSight
