SQL Technical Support

Responsible for maintaining the availability and delivery of the Data Bases relating to the IT Infrastructure within the UK Managed Services Platform. Delivered as part of a 24/7/365

support model

Interacting with operational specialists within the Managed Service Platform.

Responsible for delivering agreed Service Levels and internal KPI’s

Providing Technical Support, developing Processes, Policies, Local Work Instructions and project delivery activities

Responsible for developing and discharging the Applications, Infrastructure and Spares Management related sub processes as well as participation within other processes such as Problem, Change, Incident, Release, Availability Management, etc

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

Supporting the operation of Databases

ensuring they are patched in line with support and security requirements

ensuring they are monitored and managed to meet required performance and capacity levels

ensuring they are resilient and available to underpin the business defined uptime SLAs

as a 3rd line specialist, support the diagnosis and resolution of complex technical issues escalated via 2nd line support or directly through analysis of the system

enrolling users and maintaining system security

ensuring compliance with database vendor license agreement

backup and recovery of database information

Develop existing and new services to meet business requirements

Propose and develop continuous improvement plans for existing services

Support the development of operational roadmaps for existing services

Support the testing and operational acceptance of new services and service changes ensuring that tests are developed and implemented to allow effective service delivery

Plan and implement technical work packages for the development of new services and maintenance of existing services

Support and implement the IT development and service management processes, as required, including Incident, Change, Release, Problem and Capacity and Availability Management

Support the Head of IT Infrastructure with Vendor and Supplier technical performance and management reviews

Technical Expertise;

At least HNC in an IT related discipline or substantial relevant experience

ITIL v3 foundation (Desirable)

At least one of:

Oracle Database 12c Administrator Certified Professional

MCSA SQL Server 2012

Oracle MySQL 5.6 Database Administrator Certified Professional

Significant experience in the design, implementation and operation of critical IT infrastructure services in an enterprise environment

Significant experience in the development, implementation and support of at least one of the following

Oracle

MS SQL

Open Source databases (MySQL, PostGres, MongoDB)

Experience of: Unix/Linux, Windows Server, Enterprise Storage and Backup Technologies, VMWare virtualisation, Server hardware management

Experience working in Technical Support teams

  • Attending trials to create product standards in conjunction with NPD and Production Dept.

  • Investigation of customer complaints and implementation of corrective and preventative actions based on trending analysis of data
  • Working with production to validate all processes and procedures
  • Management and maintenance of calibration schedule for technical equipment.
  • Management of raw material and packaging intake including supplier non-conformances
  • Managing the technical KPI  and action plan as well as day to day tasks of departments publish results and maintain clear communication between technical and other departments within the company
  • Carrying out internal and GMP (good manufacturing practices) audits in conjunction with the appropriate departmental managers to verify that the factory is complying to all customer codes of practice and BRC standards
  • Responsibility for pest control across the whole site
  • Support departmental managers in implementing action raised during internal and external audits to ensure these are reduced and completed within the given time-frame
  • Reviewing internal Work Instructions and practices vs. customer codes of practice / BRC requirements to implement and train any required changes
  • Raising NCR'S and QDA. -helping to investigate when needed and closing them off

Key duties and requirements

- Delivering an effective, pleasant and engaging customer focused and professional Ensuring all IT Helpdesk and support issues are dealt with promptly on a priority basis
- Carrying out straightforward Active Directory tasks
- Setting up mobile devices such as phones and tablets
- Setting up new users and install hardware / software where required
- Assisting with any new office moves requiring IT and Systems support
- Ensuring that the Helpdesk system is regularly maintained so that users are kept updated on the progress of their issues in line with KPIs/SLAs.
- Ensuring effective communication with all internal and external customers including making regional office and site visits where required
- Performing IT inductions for all new staff to the business
- Assisting with administration and support of the COINS system
- Complying with all relevant Group IT Policies and processes
- Full training on our in-house ERP system, COINS will be provided

In return for your hard work as our Group IT Technician, you will be offered a salary of £18,000 - £19,500 per annum along with a company performance related bonus and additional benefits.
