2020 London Summer Internship: Analytics and Sales - German Speakers
You're the first of your friends to know about a major economic event. You have an appetite not only to see the world but to learn what makes it tick. You build relationships quickly and effortlessly and have a real desire for a career in a client-facing role. You're professional and personable, intelligent and analytical. You're a solution-provider, with a passion for providing platinum customer service. It's rare to find an internship that gives you as much client exposure as our Analytics and Sales programme will. Over the course of ten weeks you'll rotate between both departments, gaining an insight into what our graduate role has to offer.

Our team:

  • Analytics
  •
On the Analytics Help Desk, our clients always come first. We provide round-the-clock support for Bloomberg Terminal users all over the world and across multiple industries. We interact directly with these clients daily, via our 'Instant Bloomberg' chat system, answering their questions and conducting training.

We're a calm voice in a busy, volatile market. Our clients rely on us to help them make better, faster decisions using the power of the Bloomberg Terminal. On any given day we respond to over 12,000 queries in more than 15 languages. The variety of the problems we solve is incredible. We could be working with a Portfolio Manager who's worried about risk, showing her how to use the Risk Analytics platform to find the most volatile securities in her holdings. At the same time, we may be chatting to a trader who needs help understanding the liquidity profile of two potential investments; so we teach him how to size them up against each other.

  • Sales

In Sales, we're the face of Bloomberg for our clients. Equally consultative and entrepreneurial, we're relied upon to manage existing client relationships, whilst being given the responsibility and autonomy to identify new business opportunities throughout the EMEA region.

We make regular visits to our clients to support and train them; discovering new business leads by making prospecting calls and networking. We work in a fast-paced, rapidly changing market and to be successful, it's crucial we stay one step ahead, pre-empting our clients' needs and presenting them with ground breaking solutions, before they even know they need them.

Colleagues across the company depend on us to communicate new functionality and Bloomberg offerings to the market. We demonstrate how Bloomberg solutions will help our clients make the best investment/trading/business decisions, by making their day to day business smoother and more profitable.

What's in it for you?
Your journey at Bloomberg will begin with a week of classroom based financial product and Terminal functionality training, to broaden your knowledge of the global financial markets and our market leading Bloomberg solutions. After your training, you'll join a team (usually aligned to the language you speak) where you'll immediately begin collaborating with interns on Analytics and Sales projects.

You'll have the opportunity to interact with clients, making valuable contributions by taking part in sales campaigns, promoting product features and prospecting for new business. Hands-on individual and group projects will allow you to experience how your full-time career could evolve.

To round out your experience, you'll attend lunch and learn sessions, designed to teach you about our diversified group, and there will be plenty of opportunities to meet Bloomberg leaders at a variety of networking events. Of course we also want to give you the chance to get to know your peers, so you'll also take part in volunteering activities and social events with interns from other departments.

Throughout the internship, you'll be supported by your line manager, buddy and your recruiter to ensure you receive regular feedback on your work and help navigating the company.

Security Engineer - Penetration Testing
Our Team:

We protect Bloomberg.
The Product Security team is dedicated to making our products and technologies as secure as possible. We report into the CISO, but work closely with engineering teams, product teams, and others across the organization to integrate security into the product lifecycle from design through deployment. Our colleagues depend on us to be application, network, and host security pros. We specialize in defining security requirements, performing application security assessments, and providing developers with remediation advice. On any given day we're performing security reviews on internal and third party applications, while evaluating processes, network design, and access controls.

What's The Role:
You'll be trusted to conduct security assessments from start to finish with minimal assistance. Depending on the project you may perform white, black, or grey box assessments and may develop proof of concept code to demonstrate the severity of findings. You'll tap into your "security instincts" to find vulnerabilities and break down complicated technical issues and the risks they pose to programmers, network engineers, system administrators, and management. You will collaborate with those teams to ensure correct design, development, and implementation of internal and customer facing projects. While deep technical skills are critical to success with us, we're also looking for fast learners who are passionate about security and are constantly researching to stay ahead of the newest threats. You should be analytical and love to problem solve. Teamwork is key so it's important that you know how to collaborate and be a great teammate.

You'll Need To Have:
  • Experience leading and performing static and dynamic analysis on customer facing applications, websites, and large enterprise networks
  • A consistent record of discovering, analyzing, and exploiting application vulnerabilities and misconfigurations on Windows and Linux platforms
  • The ability to work with stakeholders throughout the vulnerability lifecycle to communicate issues and provide remediation guidance
  • Proficiency in reading, writing, and auditing C and C++ (or similar language) and the ability to pick up new languages/technologies
  • Proficiency in at least one scripting language such as Python

What's It Like To Work Here?
We work hard. We are ambitious and set ourselves tough business goals. We are a meritocracy, where everyone has a voice - not a job title. Working with people you trust, respect, and can collaborate with is more important than titles or position. Things move fast, and we want people who will enjoy working in this environment and feed off the energy. That being said, it isn't all about work. Giving back is one of our core values, and there are many ways to get involved in philanthropic initiatives, from helping local school kids with their reading, to helping clean up local parks and waterways.

  • Experience developing custom tools when necessary
  • Knowledge of ubiquitous encryption technologies (PGP, SSH, SSL, etc.) and common authentication protocols (OpenID Connect, OAUTH, SAML, RADIUS, LDAP, KERBEROS, etc.)
  • Knowledge of secure network design and system architecture
  • A Computer Science or technology related degree

We'd Love To See:
  • Proficiency in using IDA Pro, Ollydbg/Immdbg, Windbg, Burp proxy, and other software analysis/debugging tools
  • Prior work as a consultant at a highly technical information security consultancy
  • Publicly disclosed vulnerabilities (CVEs) and open-source tools
