We are a London-based startup on a mission to build the leading cloud and mobile SaaS platform for digitising traditional restaurant, coffee and bar businesses. We deliver white-labelled apps that allow businesses to handle mobile payments, loyalty, and marketing messages - thus engaging with their customers in real time, and increasing sales and operational efficiency. Our platform is used in the UK, US and we have over a hundred live business customers.

In 2020, we are planning to expand the capabilities of our cloud platform and increase the range of integrations to payment gateways, EPOS systems and customer loyalty platforms. We are also expanding the functionality of our newly re-engineered merchant admin portal, adding features such as campaign management and data analytics.

We use technologies such as Typescript / Nodejs / Mongo / Postgres / AWS, and we continually invest in keeping our tech and devops uptodate.

Role

You will be taking the lead in designing and building new backend services and features that drive our platform. You will expand our integrations to other payment gateways and EPOS systems, and improve performance, monitoring and deployment automation throughout our platform.

You will be working with our Product and App teams (10 people) in an agile process. As you work on the application, you will be contributing to the planning and architecture decisions, as well as helping build Web App features from time to time - we like our team to become cross functional as far as possible.

This role is full-time. It can be remote but it is UK working hours. We do have an office in Central London if you prefer to work in an office.

If you are UK based, you must be able to live and work in the UK. ie UK citizens, Irish citizens, EU citizens, and people who have an eligible UK visa. We do not offer visa sponsorship.

Your salary will be based on your level of experience.

You must be fluent in English.

Requirements

You've had 4+ years' experience of building backend services using Nodejs. You have worked in a professional product development team and have worked with Product Managers and QA.

You are an expert in:

You are well versed in building services in the cloud that are both maintainable and robust. You have a good knowledge of the AWS platform and how to make services secure and performant.

Our Team

We are a small West London based team responsible for the company’s digital assets including a booking platform (going live mid-march), online check-in platform, a customer feedback platform, and various websites. We also have a number of automation projects coming up.

Who You Are

We are on the lookout for a Senior Full Stack Developer to join our team. You have experience with at least one front-end Javascript framework, microservices architecture, and DevOps (CI/CD, Docker, Kubernetes). Ideal candidates for this role will have over 5 years commercial experience with PHP and Javascript.

The most important qualities we look for are that you are a self-starter, a problem solver, have the drive to push projects to completion both independently and as part of a team, a strong ambition to improve your skill set, and most importantly the desire to work with the team to build awesome user experiences for our customers.

With a desire to develop yourself and the team, you will have plenty of opportunities to grow. We offer training and conference budgets and in our team you will be working closely together with people of various specialisations from design through to DevOps. Cross-training is in our culture.

Key Responsibilities

Working alongside our lead developer and other team members, your main responsibilities may include:

  • Developing and maintaining microservices to build out our ever-growing API platform.
  • Building out integrations with 3rd party systems.
  • Maintaining and expanding on existing infrastructure for our websites, booking platform and other APIs.
  • Writing automated tests.
  • Supporting the team and our digital products by investigating and resolving technical infrastructure issues.
  • Assisting our teams with tech support tasks.
  • Building upon our existing monitoring tools so that we can get structured notifications based on regular system health checks.
  • Participating in the problem solving process to help come up with future software and infrastructure solutions.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Developing and maintaining plans and schedules
  • Developing of fully resourcing costed Project plans using data provided by the Portfolio, Programme and Project management teams.
  • Maintaining plans and schedules of reporting for Projects
  • Monitoring, progressing and refining plans and schedules, implementing change and configuration control systems as appropriate.
  • Identifying and monitoring interdependencies within the Project and contained plans.
  • Providing progress reports to each Project Manager, to include performance and schedule information.
  • Identifying key variances within Projects and presentation of effective and compelling data in support of findings.
  • Critical path analysis and trend forecasts
  • Providing assistance for Portfolio Manager, Programme Managers and Bid Managers.
  • Creating and maintaining the schedule for the programme.

Essential Requirements/Experience:

  • Qualifications - Management of Portfolios Practitioner
  • Current and valid Developed Vetting clearance
  • Significant experience of Strategic Programme Planning within a Defence environment
  • Experience in aligning Projects with objectives and Strategies Experience in working with cross functional teams, to plan projects using APM methodologies

The role also falls inside IR35 and therefore the rate is based on working through an Umbrella company.
