Pyramid8 are delighted to be working with our client to recruit an experienced Proposals Manager / Sales Engineer / Proposals Engineer / Tendering Engineer / Estimating Engineer. Our client designs integrated end-to-end surveillance control systems for the world’s most demanding security environments.

Working as a part of a small international proposals team providing accurate technical and commercial bids for various size opportunities. It shall be the responsibility of the Proposal Engineer to ensure that all submissions are finalised on time and that they meet the client’s expectations whilst maximizing the company’s potential to win projects.

The role requires a high degree of flexibility and initiative in order to provide key technical and commercial support, to both clients and colleagues in preparation of prequalification document submission and / or post contract award support.

Above all, the Proposal Manager / Sales Engineer is expected to represent the company in a professional manner at all times - in person, via email and telecommunication.

This is a permanent role, Monday to Friday. UK National travel will be required as with some international travel.

Key Responsibilities:

• Co-ordinate and prepare bespoke security system designs utilising the company’s product portfolio to a pre-defined specification
• Prepare using standard spreadsheets, the proposal cost estimate including obtaining accurate costs as necessary
• Compile contract specific reviews prior to the acceptance / acknowledgment of a purchase order and actively engage with all internal stakeholders required for project availability
• Responsible for moving a qualified opportunity from the closed sales status, via a technical and commercial hand over process with the project team; provide continued varying levels of support where necessary
• Perform a detailed review of enquiry documents to enable a full understanding of requirements to ensure all requirements are identified for inclusion or qualification
• Ensure accurate documents, drawings and certificates are compiled and transmitted to client to support the bid
• Deal with contract variations via adherence to full change control process
• Attend meetings with the client and take a proactive role in managing day to day issues / queries arising from the project design and commercial discussions
• Ensure proposals are delivered within the required deadline maintaining a high standard, quality and accuracy whilst maintaining all objectives
• To provide the client with highest level of expertise, escalating technical and commercial issues of a more complex or serious nature to the Proposals Manager/Divisional Director where necessary

Qualifications and experience:

The role is technically demanding working with bespoke software and hardware which requires a good level of commercial awareness. The relevant candidate should be able to demonstrate key electrical, electronic and IT knowledge.

• A minimum of five years’ experience in a technical role preferably in an international environment
• Relevant project delivery experience in a manufacturing and / or project-based environment
• Excellent negotiation skills, planning and scheduling and written and communication skills
• Highly computer literate in Microsoft Office products
• Experience of a mechanical / electronics engineering business and associated challenges
• Experience in CCTV, IT Networking and / or telecommunications market, preferably within a Ex petrochemical or maritime shipping industry
• Proven experience of both theoretical and practical aspects of systems design inclusive of techniques and tools Documentation governance
• International travel is a possible requirement for this role so must hold a valid passport and be prepared to travel at short notice to meet the demands of the role and customer expectations.
• For UK travel, a full, clean valid driving license is also required.

• Ability to analyse information and accurately interpret the information and identify key points for requirements of proposals
