ROLE SUMMARY

The Senior Business Architect will contribute and support the Business Architecture discipline within the Enterprise Architecture function for the company. This will entail providing architecture and analysis consultancy on major programmes within the company, together with providing architecture and analysis consultancy to initiatives that are external to the company but aligned to the the company's product set.

Principal Accountabilities:

Actively support and contribute to the Enterprise Architecture team and the Strategy directorate through:

  • Actively involved in the Future State and Current State architecture evolution and maintenance together with providing consultancy on major projects and programmes the company may have running as part of the business change process.
  • Run the Business Architecture working group reporting into the company Design forum
  • Actively involved in the projects and initiatives involving Standards from a technical, practical, policy and engagement perspectives
  • Reviewing of current processes and/offerings and looking at opportunities to re-engineer these
  • Reviewing of industry and government consultations and papers, and contribution to the wider Enterprise Architecture landscape and/or responses composed by the Enterprise Architecture team
  • Develop / maintain relevant architecture artefacts, principles, standards guidelines and procedures
  • Developing and communicating knowledge and skills in emerging issues and technologies and trends that may influence future payments legislation or messaging standards
  • Organising and acting as secretariat to industry and group meetings and forums where needed
  • Fostering understanding between the various stakeholders involved in the end-to-end payments process.
  • Undertaking any other duties as may reasonably be requested. All activities will be overseen by the Head of Enterprise Architecture.

Knowledge and Experience

  • Experience in a professional setting, with experience in a financial services environment and/or payments environment preferred.
  • Knowledge of UK payment systems (e.g. Bacs, CHAPS, FPS, SWIFT) a plus
  • Experience of undertaking business analysis and project documentation at a project level
  • Business and technical requirements analysis
  • Market trends and best practices used in other markets to operate payment services
  • Experience of participating in large-scale projects a plus
  • Experience in external engagement, including working with senior stakeholders, regulators and industry participant teams a plus
  • Experience of working in a matrix management style.

Specific Skills

  • Proven analytical and problem solving skills
  • Excellent writing skills
  • Exposure / experience in financial services (Payments experience a plus)
  • Knowledge of the BABOK and/or TOGAF/Zachman Business Architecture frameworks
  • Comfortable with creating business process models in BPMN2
  • ISO 20022 expertise and other message formats and technology a plus
  • Ability to communicate clearly, succinctly and effectively
  • Flexible and confident at multitasking
  • Sufficient experience within a multi stakeholder environment
  • Good interpersonal skills and a team player

The Role
The UK Dementia Research Institute (UK DRI) are looking to appoint a Digital Transformation Manager to take responsibility for the implementation of a new digital infrastructure strategy to support their research environment, productivity and collaboration flows, cloud storage and intranet. Why UK DRI? Dementia is the greatest health challenge of our century. To date there is no way to prevent it or even slow its progression, and there is an urgent need to fill the knowledge gap in our basic understanding of these diseases. The UK DRI is the biggest UK initiative supporting research to fill this gap.

The UK DRI Headquarters team is based at UCL yet works across all six of the UK DRI host institutions based across the UK. Collectively the HQ team is responsible for making the distributed UK DRI community function as a single institute, with a shared culture of intensely collaborative research.

Job Responsibilities
As Digital Transformation Manager, you will be responsible for delivering the technical and cultural change to support the enhancement of the overall digital infrastructure environment at the UK DRI. This will involve the set-up, piloting, on-boarding, rollout and troubleshooting of the proposed tools and solutions, ensuring seamless integration with the existing local digital resources at host institutions.

Evangelising and cultivating a strong digital culture will be a key part of the role, championing the adoption of digital tools used by UK DRI researchers, and helping to define and configure the tools and services to be fit for purpose, and to enable scientific research and collaboration across the institute.

Core Skills
The successful candidate will have:

  • Experience in managing the end-to-end delivery of large scale digital projects, and an understanding of cloud-based solutions across a large environment.
  • A strong understanding of change management, and managing that process within a diverse range of stakeholders
  • An understanding of delivering high performance computing, collaboration platforms (e.g. Slack) or video conferencing solutions across a large environment is highly beneficial.


Communication

  • You will be a self-motivated and dynamic, and able to engage, challenge and influence others
  • A track record of developing and maintaining collaborative working relationships across IT and the wider organisation
  • An ability to explain technical issues to non-specialists, and to write clear technical reports and other formal documentation for solution deployments and evaluations is essential.
