South Norfolk and Broadland Council have an exciting opportunity for a Housing Technical Officer to join our team based at South Norfolk Council, Long Stratton but with flexibility to work at both Broadland and South Norfolk sites according to demands on service. You will join us on a part time, temporary basis for 12 months in return for a competitive salary of £30,509 - £34,788 (pro rata) per annum.

- Undertaking programmed inspections of Houses in Multiple Occupation and caravan / mobile home sites.

- Advising on cases where enforcement action may be required in accordance with council policy.

- Processing and determining all types of housing related grant aid and other financial assistance applications, including authorising approvals and payments.

- Assessing properties for structural and needs / space suitability for required adaptations, including design and preparation of schedules of work for contractors to price.

- Liaising with and advising builders / contractors to resolve unforeseen building works and overseeing works in default to remove hazards and protect residents.

- Assisting in the management of gypsy and travellers, including transit sites, as required.

- Responding to planning consultations and drafting conditions to be attached to planning consents.

Skills required of our Housing Technical Officer:

HNC diploma or equivalent in building related discipline or demonstrable experience of working in building or housing-related activity. Good communication with clients and contractors and a full driving licence is essential.

Conducting full and thorough diagnostics with end users to enable first point of contact incident resolution
