What is the Opportunity?

The Global Head of Traded risk Model Validation will be responsible for all aspects of independent review and challenge of pricing, valuations, market risk and counterparty credit risk models used within SCB. The model universe covers all traded risk models and the entire suite of model changes driven by FRTB. The models cover regulatory capital, economic capital, stress testing and internal risk management applications.

What will you do?

• Lead and oversee the end-to-end traded risk model risk validation process including technical assessment of adequacy of the modelling data and assumptions, conceptual soundness and mathematical formulation, and model performance, as well as the functional assessment of using the model for regulatory and business applications through performing validation tests, discussing findings with internal and external stakeholders.

• Provide effective challenge to model developers and identify model risks, including the issues with conceptual soundness, alignment with regulatory requirements/expectations.

• Assess the appropriateness of remediation actions proposed and undertake additional analysis & testing as necessary to size the impacts and ensure the risks are mitigated.

• Contribute to continuous improvements to the model risk management framework across the model lifecycle (both operational process effectives and functional aspects) including model validation, performance evaluation and ongoing monitoring.

• Contribute to strategic cross-functional initiatives within the risk management function in the area of model methodology and implementation design of traded risk models

• Liaise with key business stakeholders on Market Risk Model changes, supporting risk managers in all queries related to VaR and other portfolio risk metrics

• Provide thought leadership in technical matters/guidance on Market Risk Model matters

What do you need to succeed?

• Experience in traded risk modelling, preferably some experience in Model Risk Management with model validation responsibilities

• Minimum of a Master's degree is required, PhD is preferred in a quantitative field (e.g. Statistics, Economics, Mathematics, Physics, Engineering, etc.)

• Expert knowledge of risk factor modelling approaches (eg. historical simulation), PL representations and approximations.

• Expert knowledge of financial markets and the broader regulatory landscape.

• Experience with managing a team and building partnership with business stakeholders

CME POST-TRADE Services is our strategic back office solution. This provides third party clearing and straight through processing solutions to customers, across all markets. Trades may be cleared through a range of third party vendors, in both US and Europe. Customers are provided capabilities to review and query trades executed through CME on a real-time basis, through both API's and a portal. The API supports differing formats through adapters including Restful FIXML, FIX 4.4,  Email and TOF. Customers then feed their own internal risk systems from the STP API functionality. CME STP is developed in Java, utilises a range of technologies, including Redis, MQ, Kafka, Oracle and the portal is HTML5/JavaScript based.

Ld IT Business Analyst acts as a primary interface w/ business & partners w/ the dev. teams to provide an integrated solution across domains. For a primary domain, s/he is responsible from the initial business request, impact analysis, & prioritization thru detailed analysis, design, & solution implementation. Often serving as analysis project lead on large projects or coach junior analysts.

Principal Accountabilities:
  • Analysis Planning, Monitoring, and Communication: Responsible for driving the analysis planning, analysis approach, and requirements management. Often serves as a project lead. Contributes to a primary domain, while managing and delegating analysis work for other analysts on the project.

  • Significant experience in leading business or systems analysis efforts and/or teams, providing functional oversight to projects.

Our Enterprise Technology Production Assurance Team (ETPA) support primarily in the areas of electronic trading applications across various customer-facing environments and technologies.
We are heavily involved in application deployment and configuration, and the improvement of CME Group standards across the environments

As an Application Support Engineer, you will be;
  • Troubleshooting issues across several technologies, determining the root cause and working with colleagues on solutions and implementation; Verifying implementation and making adjustments as necessary, providing input into resolutions and documenting solutions.
  • Bringing your expertise to continue to build our standards in areas such as deployments, working collaboratively within your team and across other technology groups
  • Supporting existing customer facing platforms and interfaces with users to determine where improvements or enhancements are needed to better serve their needs

Qualities we are interested in:
  • Knowledge of application deployment/configuration within a Linux platform
  • Knowledge of Linux systems, distributed computing architecture (client server, intranet/internet), h/w platforms and resources (CPU, memory, virtualization, clustering)
  • Working knowledge of at least one scripting language (Bash, Perl, Python)
  • Experience with Java to configure and troubleshoot applications
  • Strong communication, troubleshooting and multi-tasking skills
  • Experience working in a fast-paced enterprise environment
