IT Application Support Analyst – Cloud/SQL – Birmingham City Centre

Application Support Analyst required for an international organisation based in Central Birmingham, where you will be responsible for working on projects to deliver and provide quality support for IT systems, products and applications. You will join the Application Delivery team and be part of the wider Delivery and Operations function, working closely with all teams in IT to provide support on various historical systems.

The ideal candidate will have experience working with the Cloud/Azure/SAAS and have worked with querying SQL databases previously.

Key Responsibilities of the role:

  • Strong knowledge of IT Systems, both Cloud based and on premise
  • Experience of managing and supporting server side applications
  • Administrator key integrations with core systems
  • Third line support for all core applications on premise and SAAS solutions
  • Working collaboratively with other international operations teams with a focus on prompt delivery in rapidly changing environment
  • Technology and system innovation to ensure current systems are kept-up-to-date and within software and hardware supported guidelines

Key Skills of the role:

  • Experience in integrations with applications, using API or 3rd party tools
  • Experience of Cloud technology, SAAS, PAAS, Microsoft Azure
  • Ability to query databases using T-SQL and troubleshooting scripting issues
  • Basic understanding and use of PowerShell
  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft technologies, Office365, Windows10
  • Ideal to have experience of reporting solution in SSRS and PowerBI
  • Understanding of change control processes, ideally exposure to ITIL

You will help to support feed handlers and focus on a migration project which will involve moving from legacy Solaris machines to Linux, updating API's, utilising more modern libraries and re-writing code utilising C++ 11 / C++ 17.

As a C++ Software Engineer your role will involve creating test suites, analysing source code for potential migration problem areas, performing the required code changes, as well as deploying the new code and communicating with affected stakeholders.
