So what am I responsible for?

We are doing a lot of exciting work in our engineering space, especially within the insurance domain.  Primarily you would will be responsible for supporting the designing, building and maintaining of relevant applications in C#.NET and SQL Server. You will be supporting those developments through route to live environments and relevant infrastructure support.  You would will work in an environment that is currently using mainly waterfall lifecycle but evolving to Agile DevOps environment.  At the entry level training and support will be given to develop your knowledge and skills.

You would have exposure to work within a cross-functional team and collaborate with other developers, solution architects, project staff and business customers.  You will support senior developers to help them with their activities such as: shape and review technical designs, maintain and correct data in production systems, build systems, support project stakeholders to understand critical path, team engagements and priorities, specifying and supporting low-level infrastructure design and configuration details.

What experience, skills and knowledge will I need to do this role?

We are open to considering people from a variety of backgrounds but as a minimum would need to see experience developing using C#.NET and SQL Server, plus an understanding of the software development lifecycle.  Most importantly we want to see a passion for development and customer centric approach.

The backgrounds we have found work well in the past have often been the following: 1) one to three years’ commercial experience in a related role, 2) a relevant degree with no commercial experience or c) those recently graduating from another relevant training course looking to move industry into software development.

As the Change Controls Testing Senior Manager, you'll have responsibility for the delivery of all Change Controls testing activity across the business areas supported by COO Business Risk ensuring testing is completed on time and to the required standard. Job Description

Colleagues must demonstrate the ability to undertake a meaningful conversation with our customers through customer centric activities to facilitate fair customer outcomes.
Build a good rapport with our customers to deepen/develop the customer relationship, and look out for customer vulnerability.
Conduct customer interactions, ensuring a full understanding of individual customer circumstances and using considered judgement and decision making skills to propose a fair solution.
Make decisions considering risk to the bank and impact to the customer with guidance & advice where required.
Handle customer calls in an efficient and effective manner providing the highest level of customer service by aiming to meet the needs of our customers and LBG.
Respond efficiently to a range of customer enquiries ensuring that information provided is clearly understood and escalating issues where appropriate.
Ensure processes are completed to the highest standard, challenging and escalating when process/policies cause any unintended consequences to both the customer and/or the bank.
Access and navigate the relevant LBG systems to review and propose the customer options.
Focus on excellent customer service whilst delivering against defined business objectives.
Ensure all details entered onto the system are accurate and meet the required quality standards.

An exciting opportunity has become available to join the Model Risk and Validation team (formerly RMAT) in Risk.  The role will give you responsibility for independent model review and validation primarily for Credit Risk models across the Retail Division including:

  • Loans
  • Current Account
  • Motor Finance

and with some flexibility to work across the other MRAV teams. The scope of models is wide and covers Operational scorecards, Regulatory models (CRDiv), Impairment (IFRS9), Pricing, Stress Testing and Forecasting and Fraud.

The role provides a superb opportunity to develop areas of knowledge relating to the Group’s modelling capability and build a strong network of contacts.

Key Accountabilities:

The key accountabilities for the role are:

  • Assisting in the independent reviews of all aspects of Retail Credit Risk models, including new developments, model changes and periodic validation recommending for approval.
  • Contribution to the presentation of independent model review of Retail Credit Risk Models to Model Governance Committee or Personal Approver.
  • Gathering knowledge of model risk and regulatory requirements and standards e.g. CRDiv, IFRS9 pertaining to credit risk models.
  • Engagement with colleagues across the Group to build relationships, influence and challenge constructively at peer level and above.

Key Capabilities/ Knowledge:

  • Qualifications: Highly numerate.  Holds at least a degree level qualification with quantitative content or equivalent skills derived from experience
  • Experience of model build or independent validation within a financial services organisation. Judgement: Ability to make sound model judgements, taking into account model performance and policy / regulation.
  • Industry Knowledge: An understanding of modelling techniques and current and future regulatory changes that may impact the Group. 
  • Business Knowledge: Some knowledge of the business and associated risk management approaches sufficient to understand models in the context of the business.
  • Business Partnering: Effective relationship management to ensure business partnering is effective whereby constructive challenge, and any issues are raised, is undertaken in a timely and orderly fashion in assisting the delivery of model initiatives.
  • Influence: Ability to communicate on complex issues, verbally and in writing, across key stakeholder groups.
  • Drive and Delivery: Effective delivery/execution, overcoming challenges to deliver. 
  • Integrity: Has ethics and integrity at the heart of every decision, and creates an environment that encourages high performance, openness, honesty and integrity.
