The Company



I'm working with a market leading technology business based in the centre of Newcastle who are looking to recruit a Head of Product to help drive commercial direction and product strategy for their solutions. In recent years they have invested heavily in new features and functionality as well as updating the platform and back end technologies allowing them to provide mobile and web based software that provides real-time information to support business decisions.

The Role



Working alongside other Product Managers you'll need to help to define a company wide product strategy whilst also being responsible for the roadmap and commercial direction of your own product suite.

This is a hands on product management role and your role will include;

  • Market research including competitor and customer analysis
  • Product launches and demos, working with sales and marketing teams explaining new features and benefits to the customers
  • Gathering detailed requirements from customers, managing expectations on new functionality and passing on information to the development team
  • Managing the relationship with internal stakeholders and sponsors, progress reports and on timescales for release
  • Innovation and thought-leadership, internally and externally
  • Identifying business opportunities and producing business cases
  • Ensuring products are successful internally and externally
  • Driving the overall product vision and strategy and ensuring developments are aligned to this strategy

The Person



Candidates will need to have worked in a technical product environment with a good understanding of the software development lifecycle. You should be very comfortable in a customer facing role, with a good level of commercial awareness, able to talk about new features and gather requirements.

Experience should include working closely with sales, marketing and technical teams, helping to plan product launches, pricing strategies and product innovation.

This is a senior role and you'll play a significant part in the future growth of the company. You should be able to work at a strategic level, understanding short and long-term impact of changes that you'll lead, comfortable building business cases and presenting to the board and senior management team.

The role will come with salary of up to £70,000 and generous benefits package.

The is a dedicated role and the person is required to ensure the activities of each third party and other global / local applications are aligned to the clients overall programme timeline and a thorough the agreed release management process is implemented.

Description

The Release manager will be responsible for:

  • Agreeing a release management strategy with third parties and other global application owners.
  • Forward plan the release schedules and cycles across the programme.
  • Working closely with the Applications environment management team to ensure alignment in release schedules.
  • Working closely with SI, global application owners and 3rd parties to ensure all build candidates for release into Production have been identified, tested and ready to deploy.
  • The management, coordination and acceptance of all third parties / global application releases into the shared integrated environment, including release into production.
  • Ensuring adequate checks are in place and completed ahead of any release (production) - including managing any risks that affect the release scope.
  • Being the main point of contact for any defects requiring communication or triage with third parties and other global applications for Production releases.

Profile

  • ITIL Foundation qualification.
  • An experienced release manager, with experience of working in this role on major programmes and projects.
  • A strong and confident communicator, able to manage internal and external stakeholders effectively.
  • Capable of elements of project management - creation and maintenance of plans, risks, issues etc.
  • Confident when working within ambiguous environments, and able to take the lead on what good environment management looks like.
  • Ability to manage multiple third party and other global application activities at the same time.
  • Sound verbal and written communication skills with the ability to respond positively to rapid change and competing priorities in a fast moving environment.
