C# Technical Lead

Your role:

As a Technical Lead, you will be supporting an experienced development leader to run a highly skilled and busy development team. You will have the opportunity to steer technical decisions and support the Development Team Lead (DTL) in road mapping and drive of product development.

You will be responsible for:

o Providing technical leadership, steering technical decisions and provide mentoring for the developers

o Acting as a second in command to the DTL in all aspects

o The teams code quality measures, such as ensuring that adequate code reviews are being conducted, and that the team's technical standards (such as TDD) are being upheld.

o Providing support for the DTL in the day to day running of the team

o During absence, providing cover for the DTL in day to day running of the team

To be considered for this role, you'll need:

o At least 5 years' experience designing and building C# .NET applications

o Excellent knowledge and experience in design patterns and Object Orientated Design

o Good knowledge of relational database technologies such as Microsoft SQL Server

o Good experience with CI tools such as TeamCity, Jenkins, Azure Dev Ops

o Experience with implementing automated testing platforms, e.g. SpecFlow, and unit tests

o An Interest in programming best practices

o Experience of working with service orientation and related technologies (SOAP, WCF, REST, etc.)

o Experience of the Agile software development lifecycle and working knowledge of SCRUM

o Proficient understanding of code versioning tools such as Git

o Basic understanding of Common Language Runtime (CLR), its limitations, weaknesses, and workarounds

Additional Desirable Skills:

o WinForms and WPF (including MVVM) development

o Mobile web development (Cordova, AngularJS)

This role is offered as a 12-month Fixed Term Contract until the end of March 2021.

What will you be doing?

Joining our team, the Regional Data Analyst will support the Wastewater Strategic Programme Manager in delivering and implementing internal strategies and meeting our strategic flood risk responsibilities under the Flood and Water Management Act 2010. You’ll provide analytical information to evidence decision making and assist programme delivery, as well as contributing to the companies Drainage and Wastewater Management Plans.

The Regional Data Analyst will assist with the preparation of summaries, reports, plans and responses for sharing with internal/external partners and the public. You’ll interrogate data to identify trends and patterns which will be used to make improvements to current working practices. You will maintain the Internal and external information portal.

Additionally, you will ensure IS issues are reported and resolved and you will update the information so internal and external stakeholders have current information available.

What do you need?

  • 5 GCSEs or equivalent in Maths, English and a Science subject
  • A good understanding of Microsoft Office packages such as Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Proven experience in a data analytics role
  • Ability to interpret data to evidence / support business cases
  • A knowledge of sewer networks, network design and network modelling
  • Knowledge of the legislation relating to flood risk management and how South West Water operates within that area of legislation
  • Full UK Driving Licence and prepared to travel throughout the region
