ERP SOFTWARE PROJECT MANAGER - HOME BASED IN THE UK

To £55k + £5k car allowance

This is a very do-able project management role for a savvy ERP Project Manager who has worked for a software reseller, software consultancy or software vendor and is great at managing the clients and their expectations. The position is home based. The company has offices in the South and the North and projects nationwide. The role is based from home so you can live anywhere in the UK from the South Coast to Guildford, Bath, Peterborough, The Midlands to the Manchester area.

This PM position is with a successful software reseller; they have around 40 staff, a 15 year track record of project management, software implementation and support and the ERP solution they sell covers supply chain, finance & accounting, distribution, asset management, business intelligence, production, inventory, warehousing, and CRM.

They will typically have 10 projects on the go at once consisting of 3 or 4 main new projects or big upgrades, and a selection of 5 or 6 small projects. You need to be able to scope the projects, build and manage the ERP project plans, and lead your team of consultants ensuring they give you full support with what needs doing, that they adhere to the project time scales.

The challenge is to manage the clients, the resources and the ERP Consultants. You will be aware of the usual problems:

* Clients want everything for nothing
* Consultants want easy projects closer to home
* Projects only ever get longer
* Budgets only ever get smaller

Part of your responsibility is being the ambassador for the software, so doing some account management, taking orders from clients and talking to them about different modules and software functionality are all part of the role. You also need to be able to complete project risk analysis and the key project milestones.

The company are very strong in many areas, but particularly on complex finance projects, so multi-currency, multi-company, multi-country systems are all quite common features of their projects.

Strong ERP Project Management experience of at least 3 years is essential, working for a software reseller, vendor or consultancy in a client facing position. Being able to fight your corner, have the awkward conversations with the clients and manage people and projects in a way that you can get the best out of them and keep working with them (year after year), is essential. They are looking for someone who is driven and likes a challenge.

There currently have a team of 3 Project Managers; 2 have been there over 10 years, so this is a good job with good prospects and projects to work on and this PM role is very "do-able".

If you are a talented, people oriented ERP Project Manager and would like to find out more, please get in touch with Jake King or Carolyn MacLurg at Ambis Resourcing.
