Infrastructure DevOps Engineer – based in Cosham, Portsmouth

Purpose of role:

As an Infrastructure DevOps Engineer you will be required to work very closely with individuals within the Cloud & Infrastructure Team. You will have a very diverse understanding of technologies and able to research on the job when there are gaps. Being a Technical Engineer within the Cloud & Infrastructure team is an important role for the continued growth and stability of the company. With a desire to move to a more DevOps methodology in the future, the company is undergoing major evolution within its IT teams. New priorities and standards are being created, making now an ideal and exciting time to join the company.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and Monitor a diverse range of server and network infrastructure.
  • Work well within a team, with sense of ownership.
  • Able to effectively create and collaborate with others.
  • Creation and maintenance of technical documentation.
  • Fulfil a technical role in the team, facilitating knowledge-transfer to team-members when experience dictates.
  • Configuration automation using any of the following, but not limited to PowerShell, PowerShell Desired State Configuration (DSC), Ansible, SCCM
  • Deployment automation – Azure, VMware, PowerShell, SCCM, Octopus Deploy

Experience:

  • Any experience in supporting and maintaining an e-commerce platform.
  • Ideally 3+ years of server infrastructure administration.
  • Ideally 2+ years of experience working with Cloud providers.
  • Ideally 2+ years of experience with networking fundamentals.
  • Ideally 3+ years of development experience with systems management and administration automation in CMD, Bash, VBScript, PowerShell, or .NET.
  • Experience of “DevOps” - integrating automation with a broad set of tools, Jira, Bitbucket, TeamCity and Octopus. If you have exposure to Azure DevOps, this would also be beneficial.

WHAT WILL YOU BE DOING?
As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for seeing large scale projects through the entire life cycle from initial concept to release. You will play a part in gathering and eliciting requirements as well as adopting an Agile approach and ensuring the client is aware of progress. You will work closely with the software development team - we specialise in bespoke UX and development solutions, so assignments will vary from websites to web / mobile applications and everything in between. We are a fully agile working environment and need our Project Managers to have a good understanding of this.
