Senior Market Data Consultant
A global Asset Management firm are looking for a Senior Consultant to be responsibile for all commercial, technical and governance of Market Data activity in the UK, Europe and Asia, with a current focus to develop and strengthen capability and coverage in UK.

This will be via PAYE/Umbrella. The client will be paying 0.5% Appretinceship Levy, 13% Employers National Insurance and 3% pension contribution.

You will take the lead on all Market Data vendor contract negotiations, new business requirements, tender (RFI/RFP) processes (working with Procurement), governance activity (Audits, training, Policy and alignment with Data Governance), administration - inventory, invoicing and various reporting, as well as technical support and consultancy with the technical delivery teams.

Your role will be to work on project that includes all aspects of indices. This includes developing and driving strategic capability into Europe working with the global team and the Market Data Director.

Your key accountabilities:

  • Provide user data and reporting necessary to drive introductory meetings with business sponsors for each functional unit (user group)
  • Collate data for Index use
  • Map Index use across the company
  • Categorize user and convey the results to the user, their business sponsor and the Project Manager
  • Liaise with regional market data teams as required to update on scope, progress and deployments
  • Liaise with regional vendors teams as required to co-ordinate use and planning
  • Conduct regular follow-ups with each parallel user and ultimately, endeavour to obtain signoff for cancellation, or document reasons for revocation
  • In depth understanding of the Indices being targeted

Your skills and experience:

  • Leadership skills - Although an individual contributor in UK, the ability to leverage capability across the global team, as well as with other local teams will be key to being successful
  • Working with senior business clients to discuss strategy, present detailed market data cost breakdowns and to understand their requirements; your ability to build and maintain relationships will be important
  • Supplier management - experience of managing and measuring supplier performance, and managing issues and escalations with suppliers
  • Supplier negotiation experience - the ability to structure a negotiation, create leverage, and form strategic relationships with suppliers
  • Experience of Market Data administration - platforms (MDM from MDSL used at FIL globally), inventories, exchange rules and reporting, invoicing, reconciliation and financial chargeback would be advantageous
  • Excellent data skills - the ability to review, analyse, and draw meaning from data and then communicate that with others is important - be it financial reporting, quickly analysing supplier supplied information again inventory etc - analytical skills are a requirement

Desirable skills/qualifications:

  • Relevant professional qualifications a benefit
  • Experience with relevant market data technologies would be an advantage - TREP/RMDS, and desktop platforms such as Eikon, Bloomberg, Factset etc would all be extremely useful
