The Role

DevOps Engineer | An exciting opportunity has just arisen for a DevOps Engineer to join an established organisation based in Manchester. This organisation is looking for someone to uplift their DevOps function, making considerable contributions towards cultural improvements, whilst furthering their exposure to multiple domains (security, data, microservices, cloud). The DevOps Engineer will also be required to create continuous improvements and associated best practises, influencing senior stakeholders and aligning technology strategy to achieve business aims.

Requirements

  • Strong technical background with prior experience of Azure, Terraform, Docker/Kubernetes, etc.
  • Exposure to cloud technologies, specifically Azure.
  • Digital first mind-set with a genuine desire to make extensive changes.
  • Excellent communication skills at all levels.
  • Experience of working in a highly regulated environment, ideally UK financial services.

This is a contract position outside IR35 looking to pay between £550-650pd for an initial 6 months.

The Role

Job Purpose

This role will work as part of the Workforce Development and Performance team, contributing to the Strategy, Planning and Performance change management programme, ensuring the ongoing development and management of processes, information and data within the Capita One IYSS Module, crucially supporting colleagues across Education and Employability and Skills Team and Thurrock in the reduction of children Not in Education, Employment or Training (NEET).

The role will ensure completion of all statutory returns to the NCCIS, managing all aspects of data reporting and performance outcomes within the system.

Alongside the system management for Essex, this role will manage services for Thurrock Council to ensure, in using our Capita ONE IYSS System, all controls and reporting are in place. Specifically, this role will look at the continued development of the IYSS System

Service/Functional Accountabilities

  • The role will ensure that the Council meets is duties around the provision of data for children and young people between the ages of 14 - 19 as outlined.

  • Responsible for the ensuring the effective management of the delivery and continued implementation of the Capita One IYSS Module supported by the delivery of training for Essex County Council (ECC) and Thurrock staff in the use of the IYSS module data input, retrieval and reporting system.

  • Responsible for managing the processes and data of the Education and Employability and Skills Unit, Children and Young People with Disability Unit and Essex Youth Work Unit in day to day operations to ensure outputs meet requirements and standards are maintained.

  • Working collaboratively with and managing external partner relationship to ensure understanding of system access, processes and available data on a day to day basis.

  • Provide regular information held within the system to support the Council objectives relating to Early Intervention and the effective delivery of services to support Children and Young People in Essex

  • Ensure all processes relating to the delivery of both statutory and non-statutory services within IYSS Module are 'lean' and streamlined, to ensure efficiency for employees and ease of access for the customer group

  • Utilising knowledge and experience to provide input into the design, implementation and management of performance reporting tools to ensure relevant reports are available to deliver information to end users.

  • Responsible for the, management of data within the Education Information System and highlight data quality issues, propose solutions and oversee their final resolution. To include the development and management of a Data Protocol and training for all users of the system

  • Working collaboratively with colleagues across Education to ensure that proper integration and maximum benefit is derived from the IYSS information and data systems.

  • Specific individual and shared targets and objectives are defined annually within the performance management framework.

Knowledge Skills and Experience
