DevOps Engineer required to work with a Government Department based in Central London. This is an initial 12 month contract, Outside IR35, paying up to £600 per day.
Active SC Clearance is highly desirable for this role.

As a DevOps Engineer you will be responsible for:
*The catalogue of re-usable infrastructure code artefacts utilised by the development and testing team
*Supporting the project team in enhancing DevOps utilisation and ways of working
*Facilitating the deployment of multiple application releases with increasing frequency to production
*Ensuring that ways of working and proposed solutions comply with business policies
*Liaison with supporting suppliers to make best use of DevOps capabilities

Overview:
The Department are developing software in a new cloud environment in Azure and are seeking new DevOps engineers. The engineer will form part of an existing team and have experience in Azure DevOps and additional DevOps toolsets. The project will be utilizing Microservices, Containers (Docker), Kubernetes, Terraform and Azure DevOps Pipelines (YAML) with the target of frequent deployments. The project also includes an automated test environment therefore any integration automation testing experience would be ideal.

You will have come from a development or infrastructure background with recent relevant AZURE CLOUD experience . As important as it is to be technically skilled you also need to be an excellent communicator that can articulate technical engineering issues\solutions to both technical and non-technical staff. The project has recently started therefore you will be steering and guiding the team of developers and testers advocating good DevOps working practices with a DevOps team lead.
1.By May 2020 enable utilization of the business' continuous integration pipeline by the development team.
2.By August 2020 deliver a containerized business application in line with assured designs.
3.By March 2021 deliver a set of containerized business applications.

Experience Required
Essential:
*Understanding and ability to write IAC (Infrastructure AS Code) with Terraform and Azure Pipelines (YAML))
*Understand GIT Branching methodologies
*Experience of automation scripting including translations from ARM/JSON templates or Terraform
*Powershell, Azure CLI and Bash Scripting Skills
*Ability to build and deploy Docker Containers
*Ability to leverage Kubernetes to manage container orchestration
*Strong understanding of Continuous Integration \ Continuous Deployment (CI|CD) technologies
*Ability to articulate highly technical solutions in a variety of ways either verbally, presenting them or document format (High Level Design or Low level Design)
*Experience of DevOps tools, IDEs (visual Studio) and source code management (Azure DevOps, GitHub) would be an advantage.
*Participate on design and code reviews.

Desirable:
*Any Kubernetes, Terraform, Docker or Azure Certifications
*Experience with Terraform
*Experience with Ansible
*Any automation testing skills are a bonus
*Any application packaging experience.

Position: Data Modelling Lead

Location: Brighton

Contract: £500 a day

6-month contract + (Perm option Available)

The Data Modelling Lead needed to help develop the Data Architecture operating model, set the strategic direction, design the capability model and lead the implementation plan across my client’s customer division. You will also design and implement strategies to enhance the value of their existing assets and drive best practice across on premise and newly emerging data lakes.

What you will be doing:

  • Contribute to the delivery of the new operating model to enhance Data Architecture capabilities across cloud and on-premise platforms.
  • Contribute to the delivery of the plan to drive adoption of assets such as Business Glossary, Data Dictionary and demonstrating value and overcome cultural barriers to Data Management best practice.
  • Contribute to the target design, policies and standards, working proactively to maintain a stable, viable data architecture and ensure consistency of data across the business.
  • Enforce principles of good data design across new platforms, data lakes and changes to existing source systems.
  • Updating the corporate and subject oriented data models to facilitate delivery of data for whatever purpose to the business; including an enterprise data model.
  • Updating the corporate Business Glossary, Data Dictionary and Data Catalogue artefacts in line with the Best Practice defined within the Data Management team.
  • Work with the Data Architecture Lead to ensure that all new and existing data models are updated to reflect ongoing changes to business, data and applications architecture.

Key skills required:

  • Stakeholder buy-in at senior level
  • Able to bring stakeholders along on the journey
  • Practical hands on modelling experience.
  • Seniority level -mid level -3+ years
  • Ideally would have experience with on premise and Cloud Architecture
  • Embed themselves in IT projects, update data modules.
  • Experience of AWS-glue, Big data modelling tools eg. Mega.
  • Tools - Sybase power designer, IBM data architect and or Mega.
  • Technical and functional - able to communicate with non-technical audiences.
  • Someone who is able to go out into the business, engage with Stakeholders and drive business adoptions.
  • Need to help deliver an IT project, migrate all modules to a new piece of software.
  • Looking for someone from Data Architectural, BA type background.
  • Someone who is comfortable talking through business side, looking at the business logical modelling.
