The purpose of the role of IT Project Manager is to provide effective, technical project support to services undertaking IT and digital related projects and initiatives, to achieve their business objectives. Specifically, the role exists to provide specialist technical knowledge, skills and experience to deliver and support the client in delivering its Modernisation Programme around their IT/Digital Strategy. This entails researching, planning, organising and controlling activities, in addition to managing suppliers and project risks and issues to ensure that specific goals, outcomes and objectives are met within the specified time. The role requires a high degree of customer interaction, general business consultancy, trouble shooting and project support for the wider IT team. Reporting directly to the Head of IT, the role will be a combination of project management and support, assisting with informing customers in the use of digital technologies.

What you'll need to succeed
The candidate will have: experience of a formal project management methodology (preferably Prince2/Agile) along with experience of working as a Project Manager. You will have a keen interest and background in digital technologies. Experience of developing business and technical requirements for IT business applications. Experience of systems specification and procurement. Experience of working within an IT technical support role and some level of systems deployment would be advantageous. Very strong communication, interpersonal & presentation skills are expected as well as happy being hands on, pro-active and enthusiastic. Technical knowledge in one or more of the systems below would be useful -

  • Microsoft Hyper-V 2012R2 virtualised server estate
  • 100 Windows 2012/16 servers
  • Exchange server 2016/ Exchange Online
  • Microsoft SQL 2012/16 High availability cluster
  • Avaya based local area network
