IT Application Support Analyst - IT - Borehamwood

Based within the Application Support Team you’ll play an integral part in providing support, including out of hours, to our SSC’s (Store Support Centres), Retail Stores and Field staff.  You’ll be an innovative problem solver with the ability to think outside the box so that you can help resolve application and software issues in a timely manner.  We are looking for an ambitious Support Analyst with a strong technical understanding as well as balanced blend of exceptional customer service facing skills.  You'll will become a subject matter expert within our Commercial departments, but also have the opportunity to take on tasks relating to retail stores and operational store support centre based in Birmingham.

Reporting into the Central IT Operations Manager you will work alongside one Support Analyst in Borehamwood and four Support Analysts in Birmingham and collaboratively support in the development of applications including supporting transition, testing and implementations. No day will be the same as you'll react to issues on a day by day basis and its essential that you have the abilities to manage a changeable and busy workload. You’ll be allocated a series of Support Tickets and have an opportunity to get involved with lots of project work too.

Occasional travel to our SSC in Birmingham will be required and you will be expected to travel to this location at least twice a month.  The out of hours schedule is based on a five weekly rota basis and you’ll be required to be on call one weekend and two weekdays blocked together.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Track and manage all allocated incidents, service requests and ad-hoc tasks in line with the incident management process, and this will involve liaising with third party contacts
  • Appropriately escalate incidents and service requests to senior management when necessary
  • Participate in the configuration, testing and implementation of new package releases
  • Proactively identify opportunities for continual service improvement, fixing root causes and process improvement

Suitable applicants will be experienced in the following:

  • Demonstrates exceptional problem and resolution skills and displays an innovative approach to providing solutions
  • Experience in Microsoft Server technologies is essential and ideally coupled with knowledge of Microsoft SQL, Active Directory, Citrix and Networking
  • Excellent awareness of Office 365, Azure, Microsoft servers and VMware
  • Experience and knowledge of building, testing and commissioning hardware into service
  • Ability to confidently communicate with a variety of stakeholders at all levels

The Role:
You will be working closely with the Head of Corporate IT Operations in a hands-on capacity, covering both BAU and project-based responsibilities. You will be part of a global team that is present in United Kingdom, Germany, Romania and India.
In the next few months, QS Headquarters will be going through a process of refurbishment - physically and logistically; therefore, an extensive knowledge in IT Infrastructure and Operations would be crucial for this role.
The Candidate:
- Must have minimum 5-7 years experience at systems administration level.
- Must be self-motivated and have the right attitude to complete tasks and respect deadlines.
- Great Interpersonal skills - ability to converse with both internal and external customers.
- Must have a strong desire to succeed and thrive in front of challenges.
- A flexible approach to work and the ability to progress under pressure.

Role Responsibilities:
- Provide global operational support for service request fulfilment, incident management, problem management and asset management.

- Ensure that system hardware, operating systems, software systems, and related procedures adhere to organisational values, enabling staff, volunteers, and partners.
- Supports and contributes to the continual improvement of processes, policies and documentation necessary to consistently enact and adapt to change.

- Helping with QS's vision of the IT user experience, working with onsite support to manage change and help troubleshoot user issues.
Key Skills:
- Intensive Networking including Firewalls (Untangle, SonicWALL, Cisco), Routers and Switches and Wi-Fi (Cisco Meraki). (CCNA qualified)
- Strong experience with software and update deployment systems
- Strong knowledge of Windows Server technology (MCSE qualified)- Good knowledge of Linux technology
- Strong Office 365 knowledge (Exchange, SharePoint, OneDrive, TEAMS)
- Strong Azure AD and very good knowledge of Microsoft Intune and other MDM solutions
- Deep understanding of Agile and ITIL practices and toolsets
- JIRA administration
- Backup and Disaster Recovery processes, procedures and software, hardware, and architecture including off-site location
