Requirements

Ruby, working in a Ruby on rails environment
Experience with TDD and a desire to work in a DDD environment
MySQL / PostgreSQL

They’re looking for Ruby Developers who are passionate about building quality products and clean code. The development environment is Agile scrum with TDD. They love the SOLID principles and using design patterns to build the best code possible and they want the Ruby Developer coming in to have similar beliefs. Using this approach has allowed them to maintain over 95% code coverage on their product meaning you will spend more time building new features and not just bug fixes!

The product you will be working on is a new cloud based financial application used by millions of users across the UK. Alongside Ruby and Rails you’ll also have access to the latest tools and technologies like AWS, New Relic and Circle CI among many others. A typical day could involve building new features, improving the code base, writing tests, reviewing pull requests and occasionally pair programming (on paring machines).

You’ll be part of a large (100+) development team but work closely within a smaller 5-10 person team with a direct team leader who is responsible for your career development. They have ambitious growth plans so leading a team of your own within 1-2 years is realistic if that’s a personal desire and they have none management career paths as well.

The dress code is smart casual and the development manager you will report to is a really nice guy. Most importantly he understands developers and won’t micro manage you, he wants someone who is independent with self-initiative. Many of their staff member are active in the development community and help run events like hackathons, tech meet-ups and women-in-tech - if you’re active in the Ruby community you’ve probably met a few of them!

The company are based in really nice offices within walking distance of Paddington train station and are offing a starting salary of up to £60K plus flexi time, 2 days remote, 5% matched pension, 25 days holiday plus more.

If you would like to be considered for this Ruby Developer role please apply now for immediate consideration.
