Performance
The role of the Reward and Performance function is to provide
support to the business in a consultative capacity, to understand the business
issues, develop reward strategies and provide analytics to support business
objectives whilst ensuring alignment with reward governance, controls and firm
wide values.
Reward and Performance
provides services and advice to the business covering all aspects of reward and
performance, including performance management processes, managing benefits,
performance systems and keeping track of the outside world through benchmarking
our pay and benefits against the market.

Overall purpose of role
·Manage the pay agenda for senior executives within the business
area.
·Work in partnership with the Head of Compensation Delivery to
ensure compensation processes meet the needs of the business area.
·Work
in partnership with the Head of Compensation Analytics to define analytical
requirements for the business unit.
Key Accountabilities
·Supporting the Head of Compensation
and HRD for their business area with strategic reward support and advice across
the business area, and directly partnering relevant HR and business
stakeholders.
·Supporting the design of and
leading the implementation of an appropriate Reward strategy for the business
area in line with overall business HR strategy/people plans and group wide
Reward strategy and governance requirements.
·Managing the pay agenda for senior
executives within the business unit, including advising on all hires and
terminations
·Support Head of Compensation in the
preparation and execution of BUK Remuneration Committee requirements.
·Managing the compensation aspects
of strategic business issues (e.g. acquisitions, retention programmes,
change/restructuring activity etc)
·Partnering with Head of
Compensation Delivery to ensure that all core compensation processes are
designed and delivered in a way that meets the needs of the business unit
·Partnering with Head of
Compensation Analytics to define analytical requirements for the business unit
in order to be able to provide data-led insight to HRD/business leads on
compensation matters – e.g. discretionary compensation allocation
Stakeholder Management and Leadership
·Create and maintain culture in which trust and mutual respect are
valued, challenging people and systems that do not support this. Convey ideas
in a confident manner to achieve results and obtain buy-in while embracing
alternative points of view.
·Working closely with key Reward stakeholders to ensure needs of
business unit are met.
Decision-making and Problem Solving
·Strong
understanding of all technical elements of compensation.
·Demonstrated experience in either
in-house or consultancy roles advising clients on Reward matters.
Risk and Control Objective
Ensure that all activities and
duties are carried out in full compliance with regulatory requirements,
Enterprise Wide Risk Management Framework and internal Barclays Policies and
Policy Standards.
Person Specification
·Strong understanding of all
technical elements of compensation and benefits including market practices in
relevant industry.
·Commercial acumen including a deep
understanding of the financial services environment and key trends/challenges
faced at a business level.
·Deep business-specific expertise
including understanding of the structure, strategy, financial performance and
core operations of the relevant business unit and an awareness of the market
positioning and competitors/challenges faced.
·Demonstrated experience in either
in-house or consultancy roles advising clients on Reward matters.
·Proven relationship management
ability working in complex, matrixed organisations .
·Strong understanding of the
financial services regulatory environment.
·Experience of engaging with and
influencing key stakeholders at executive management level.
·Ability to operate in a matrixed
environment and deliver results through virtual teams and collaboration.
