The Network Engineer will join our IT Network & Security Team in our leading international Transport/Logistics company, based in Dartford.

Your technical background will cover in depth Network Infrastructure and an understanding of IT Security concepts.

In this role, you will:

  • Provide technical expertise in the implementation of new network infrastructures, and changes to the existing network environment in a controlled manner.
  • Design, installation, maintenance and monitoring of Network & Security systems including, but not limited to Switches, Routers, Firewalls and Corporate Wireless Solutions.
  • Provide support on network security products & services with a focus on Nextgen firewalls (NGFW).
  • You will work with other members of the Infrastructure and IT Support teams to research, determine the scope & complexity of issues, and identify steps to resolve them.
  • Recommending the direction for LAN/WAN, Network Security, Internet, and Remote Access services.
  • Develop Infrastructure project plans, technical specifications, design documents, roll-out and test plans.
  • Second/Third line support during operational incidents.
  • Contribute to IT policies and process development using industry best practices.
  • Out of hours work (for projects and implementations) and Standby/On-Call support.

Our Ideal Person:

  • Excellent Cisco network design and support experience (3/4 years’+ is desirable)
  • Strong LAN/L2 skills including, but not limited to VLAN, STP, QoS, VRRP, MAC.
  • In-depth knowledge in all aspects of TCP/IP, routing and OSI stack.
  • Experience with Network implementation, configuration and operational maintenance of Cisco, HP/Aruba Software & Hardware.
  • Upgrade software on hardware such as Switches, Routers, Firewalls, and Wireless AP’s
  • Hands-on experience in the setup, administration and configuration of NGFW Firewalls Cisco Firepower/FMC, ASA.
  • Experience with Site-to-site VPNs.
  • Knowledge of tunnelling protocols | IPSEC, L2TP, GRE
  • Knowledge of the following protocols | DNS, DHCP, SNMP, SSL/TLS
  • Corporate Wireless implementation and support | Cisco WLC, CAPWAP
  • Experience setting up and maintaining Radius/TACACS Servers.
  • Two factor Authentication | Cisco DUO / O365
  • Strong Second/Third line Network/Security support.
  • Experience with corporate anti-virus & anti-malware deployments.
  • Experience working with Network Monitoring Solutions
  • Technical and non-technical Documentation | Visio
  • MPLS, BGP and OSPF experience.
  • Experience working with VoIP | SIP
