Area Home Delivery Manager – East Anglia
Covering Peterborough, Cambridge, Bury St Edmonds and Colchester
£Competitive Plus Benefits

About Riverford

We’re mad about organic veg. It’s at the heart of everything we do. We love to grow it, pack it into our iconic veg boxes and deliver it to around 60,000 homes across the UK every week.

Riverford began in 1987, with one field of organic veg, a wheelbarrow, and a beaten-up 2CV for deliveries. We’ve grown into a thriving e-commerce business, with four organic farms, two packhouses, a fleet of vans and drivers, a wholesaler, a butchery and an award-winning restaurant. This requires loads of brilliant people; we employ in areas including IT, logistics, sales, HR, finance, marketing, and more besides!

We’re a friendly, forward-thinking bunch, with strong values and a passionate, entrepreneurial spirit. ‘Success’ means much more than just profits; we strive to use the business as a force for good, balancing the needs of people and the planet, and guaranteeing a fair deal to all.

In 2018, Riverford became employee owned, ensuring our independence and protecting our values forever. Working for Riverford makes you a ‘co-owner’; every individual is valued, and every voice is heard. Join us and live life on the veg.

What you’ll be doing

Within our managed territories, we make around 22,000 deliveries a week to customers, delivering from hubs based across the country and approximately 4,500 of those deliveries are in East Anglia.

It takes a lot of hard work to produce a veg box; from growing the vegetables ourselves, to packing the boxes at one of our farms. We need our drivers to make sure that the same level of care and attention is given to delivery, ensuring our customers receive their items in perfect condition and as promptly as possible. As a vital link between our customers and the rest of the business, customer service will be key. You will lead by example, demonstrating what first-class customer service looks like to the rest of your team.

In this role, you will be responsible for a team of approximately 25 drivers across multiple small units and a fleet of delivery vehicles, making sure that orders are delivered promptly and efficiently and that our drivers build great relationships with their customers. This a great time to join as you will have an important task of developing, coaching and mentoring two Team Leaders to help manage and support our growing team of drivers.

This is a permanent contract, working 40 hours per week, usually Monday to Friday. Flexibility is required as start and finish times vary along with occasional weekend working. The location will be independent; travelling between our hub/farm locations in Peterborough, Cambridge, Bury St Edmonds and Colchester. Access to a pool vehicle is available for this purpose.

Your Responsibilities

- Organise drivers’ paperwork and general administration to organise rounds
- Maintain a dedicated team of drivers focused on delivering our produce with excellent customer service
- Perform appraisals and conduct probation reviews
- Ensure drivers are furnished with the necessary level of produce knowledge
- Take responsibility for all aspects of rota/route planning
- Organise team meetings/briefings
- All aspects of fleet management

Health & Safety

- Ensure you and your team comply with all relevant legislation, good practice and company policies. Follow the Managed Territory Development Manager’s advice in ensuring your team is trained and refresher training takes place annually
- Ensure the fleet of vehicles are fully maintained and serviced, checked for safety daily, and ensure repairs are carried out in a timely manner
- Take responsibility for all Health and Safety matters in the hubs under your control

General

- Observe H&S rules at hubs and network farms
- In line with Data Protection, it is also important that you respect the confidentiality of data stored electronically and by other means

Skills & Experience

- A proven track record of managing a team of drivers in a multi-drop environment
- Experience in managing and maintaining a fleet of vehicles
- Experience of working in a customer-focused commercial environment, preferably FMCG

Other organisations may call this role Regional Home Delivery Manager, Multi-Drop Delivery Manager, Driving Team Manager, Area Distribution Manager, or Regional Logistics Manager.

Benefits

- 33 days’ holiday per annum (including bank holidays)
- Generous company pension scheme
- Annual profit share; 10% of all our profits are split equally between all co-owners
- 25% off everything we sell

Junior DevOps Engineer

Bright and collaborative Junior DevOps Engineer required to join EG in Bishopsgate – Continuous Integration and Delivery / AWS / Linux / TeamCity

  • Junior DevOps Engineer for EG – Major career opportunity in thriving and innovation led online brand.
  • Salary COMPETITIVE plus benefits package
  • Full training programme.
  • Based from Bishopsgate offices in central London.

EG is a truly exciting business and a great company to work for; we use forward-thinking technology and nurture an innovation and collaboration led culture to deliver game-changing software to the property industry. We have a fantastic office in Bishopsgate, really bright and modern with a real buzz, we have genuinely talented staff with a passion for what they do, and the social side isn’t bad either!

We are looking for a Junior DevOps engineer with good CI and Delivery skills and a great aptitude to learn. You will be part of a proactive technology team built on the ethos of continuous improvement and will be offered a full training programme. This is as much about your contribution to a happy, collaborative environment, as it is technical excellence.

Our product portfolio delivers deep data insight via new web applications to leading property professionals across the UK. We work heavily with Amazon services, MEAN Stack, TeamCity, Puppet and more. As a Junior DevOps Engineer, you’ll join a cross functional team building compelling online data products, with exciting technologies – we are currently very much into Elastic and Immutable Architecture (dynamic provisioning). We have high standards. Getting through the door isn’t easy, but once you’re here you’ll get to work with some of the best technologists around.

Skills & Requirements:

Essential:

  • Aptitude and enthusiasm to learn new infrastructure as code and DevOps technologies and techniques.
  • Experience working in a DevOps / Infrastructure as code environment, ideally in the following areas (although full training can be provided):
    • Working with Continuous Integration / Continuous Delivery tools in a production environment (such as TeamCity / Jenkins / GitLab CI).
    • Linux (CentOS 7 upwards preferred).
    • Automated provisioning of AWS services (especially EC2, SQS, SNS) using Terraform / CloudFormation.
    • Configuration management using tools such as Puppet / Chef.
  • Good scripting skills (Bash, Python etc.).
  • Experience with source code management tools (e.g. Git).
  • Used to working in a team environment with good interpersonal skills.

Desirable:

  • Experience with:
    • Agile and Lean methodologies.
    • Mongo DB.
    • Node.js ecosystem.
    • Docker / Kubernetes.
    • Elastic Search.
    • ELK Stack.
    • AWS Lambda.
    • Monitoring tools (such as Nagios).

What’s it like to work here?

Outstanding - you’ve probably already got a feel for what we do and the technology we’re involved with but what differentiates us from the crowd is our culture. We’re an agile, dynamic and forward thinking organisation who understand the importance of looking after our staff. We pride ourselves on delivering high-quality products, providing our employees with interesting challenges for their personal and career development whilst also striking the right balance between work and family life.

In addition to all of this we offer the following 'core' benefits:

  • 25 days holiday.
  • 2 paid charity days a year (as a business we do a lot of charity work).
  • Pension and life assurance schemes.
  • Save As You Earn Share Scheme (SAYE).
  • Competitive Salaries.

It’s worth noting that whilst EG is a hugely successful brand in its own right, it’s also part of RBA and the FTSE100 RELX Group, powerhouses in the global digital world and hugely respected tech-driven businesses. This means that we’re able to offer the best-of-both-words, a close-knit, collegial, flexible and dynamic team but with the stability, investment, benefits and career opportunities that go with being part of a growing global organisation.

Forbes has ranked RELX Group as one of the world’s best employers. Based on the results of an independent survey, RELX Group is 53rd in the list out of 2000 companies. We are the only UK-based company in the computer services industry to feature on the list. More than 360,000 global recommendations were analysed to create the list.

RELX Group has also been named by Forbes as one of the World’s Most Innovative Companies. We are one of only 20 European groups and five UK-based companies to be named among the world’s top 100 most innovative companies.

RBA are an equal opportunity employer and all qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, colour, religion, sex, national origin, disability status, protected veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by law.

Web Developer (Python) | Making Tech Count!

Central Bristol - £33,000 - £46,000

We have been asked to help this amazing Bristol company build out a new team this year and I am absolutely buzzing to be working with them (I've wanted to for years!) Not only do they work on some very cool high profile projects, ones everyone would have heard and seen but they are just the nicest bunch of people with great values and ethics.

We are well underway building this team and looking for 2 web developers to join the Bristol hub! The Bristol office is filled with a diverse, highly technical development team, where everyone's input is valued. Their focus is on solving complex problems in the most efficient way possible in a collaborative environment.

Skills you'll need:

  • Their products are web-based and use Python (and occasionally Node) on the server, most often Django on Google App Engine (sometimes Firebase, AWS, or Azure).
  • They use a mix of relational and non-relational databases, and other cloud services.
  • They aim to strike a balance between leveraging existing strengths and exploring new tech.

In my opinion you'll be working with some of the most creative people in Bristol (I've seen there work - it's awesome!) You'll have loads of opportunities for growth and further leaning and work on different products. Get involved in worldwide talks and conferences and training courses.

They'll give you the opportunity to do your thing, so if you need/want to work from home occasionally then go for it. They also offer free lunch every day, the most insane snacks and pretty much any drink you can think of - including Fanta Lemon!
Other bits and bobs:

  • Headspace account
  • Unlimited holiday
  • Enhanced Pat and Maternity pay
  • Enhanced pension
  • On-site osteopath - get me there!!
  • Gym membership
  • A phone of your choice - up to £700
  • Life insurance
  • Plus more but I'm almost out of characters

Salary up to £46,000 based in Central Bristol.
I am planning to start arranging interviews asap. Please send your CV over asap to discuss :)
