What makes walking in the forest is the best feeling in the world?

Is it the space, the air, the freedom, the peace...? Or perhaps it's the adventure: perfect for the weekend bikers, forest runners and dog walkers.

Either way, Forestry England help create those experiences time and again. They look after more land and more trees than any other organisation in the country, shaping landscapes and protecting wildlife. It's a job that never stops growing.

About the role:

Forestry England's website is a key business tool for the organisation and as the developer you can influence its future development which includes collaborative design and delivery of excellent digital experiences, inspiring the public to visit forests, explore the activities and generate revenue.

This new opportunity is as unique as you. As a motivated and experienced full stack web developer (OO PHP, HTML, CS, JS) you thrive on responsibility of ongoing technical enhancement of websites, designing and developing responsive high-quality digital solutions which drive effective engagement.

Key work areas:

You will take an active role in the design process, assessing and scoping appropriate technical possibilities creating high-quality, accessible and responsive functionality. Never resting on your laurels, you will work to identify further opportunities for developing the website, keeping abreast of new web and mobile technologies, recommending best practice, suggesting areas for improvement and advising the organisation accordingly.

About you:

What'll mark you out is the experience of designing, building and delivering significant professional digital developments ideally in an Agile environment. Full-stack development (OO PHP, HTML, CSS, JS) and Drupal are critical, as is the ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical team stakeholders.

Working collaboratively to achieve better digital products is a given whilst experience working with a CSS preprocessor, open data platforms or API integrations are bonus but not a clincher. Fancy a chat about the role? Register your interest above for more information.
