The Role
The
UK Dementia Research Institute (UK DRI) are looking to appoint a
Digital Transformation Manager to take responsibility for the implementation of a new digital infrastructure strategy to support their research environment, productivity and collaboration flows, cloud storage and intranet. Why UK DRI? Dementia is the greatest health challenge of our century. To date there is no way to prevent it or even slow its progression, and there is an urgent need to fill the knowledge gap in our basic understanding of these diseases. The UK DRI is the biggest UK initiative supporting research to fill this gap.
The UK DRI Headquarters team is based at UCL yet works across all six of the UK DRI host institutions based across the UK. Collectively the HQ team is responsible for making the distributed UK DRI community function as a single institute, with a shared culture of intensely collaborative research.
Job Responsibilities
As Digital Transformation Manager, you will be responsible for delivering the technical and cultural change to support the enhancement of the overall digital infrastructure environment at the UK DRI. This will involve the set-up, piloting, on-boarding, rollout and troubleshooting of the proposed tools and solutions, ensuring seamless integration with the existing local digital resources at host institutions.
Evangelising and cultivating a strong digital culture will be a key part of the role, championing the adoption of digital tools used by UK DRI researchers, and helping to define and configure the tools and services to be fit for purpose, and to enable scientific research and collaboration across the institute.
Core Skills
The successful candidate will have:
- Experience in managing the end-to-end delivery of large scale digital projects, and an understanding of cloud-based solutions across a large environment.
- A strong understanding of change management, and managing that process within a diverse range of stakeholders
- An understanding of delivering high performance computing, collaboration platforms (e.g. Slack) or video conferencing solutions across a large environment is highly beneficial.
Communication
- You will be a self-motivated and dynamic, and able to engage, challenge and influence others
- A track record of developing and maintaining collaborative working relationships across IT and the wider organisation
- An ability to explain technical issues to non-specialists, and to write clear technical reports and other formal documentation for solution deployments and evaluations is essential.
